A listener writes “I am former military and did not believe in bigfoot. I have to see it or experience it to believe it.
My opinion changed after spending the night in the Uwharrie National Forest. A good friend of mine was losing her eyesight and wanted to go camping one last time. I am more than prepared for camping in cold conditions and it was 19 degrees out. We were the only ones out there that night.
My friend woke me up and said she heard two people trying to sneak into the camp. She heard two people walking but it was very deliberate like they were trying to be quiet. I told her it was nothing and I went back to sleep.
Sometime later she woke me up and said they are in the camp and she was terrified. I noticed her seeing eye dog was freaking out as well and they are trained not to freak out.
We stepped out of the tent and it was inside the tree-line. I knew something was watching me. That is when it roared/screamed at me and it was close. The strange part is you could hear it suck air in right before it screamed/roared.
I have been hunting my whole life and I never heard anything like this before. The sound hit me like a very powerful sound wave. I pulled my pistol and started shooting.
Immediately after I shot another one that was behind my jeep started screaming and roaring at me. I turned the in that direction and started shooting. I felt like we were in danger…..”

THIS outta be one heck of a hair-raiser for an episode. Glad the listener survived the ordeal. I hope that it left no permanent traumatization for either of them.

Imagine the poor woman losing her eyesight and probably sees very poorly in low light situations and then having these creatures roaring right outside the tent. I’m glad they were not hurt.

I have talked about Uwharrie forest NC many time on this forum especially with knobby because he lived here at one time, I have not had an encounter there but I have atv road all over this area which is very treacherous and it is a hotspot for sasquatch. I am not a researcher but if I was this is a very good place to try. I have seen some signs of them out there and know Uwharrie needs to be looked into further. It is a creepy place in the daytime in some areas let lone at night so I feel for the blind lady.

My buddy and I recently backpacked in the uwharries just a month ago. No action at all. But I agree with Mark S. This place has everything to support a large primate. Hope he mentions a campground. There is one that has had a few encounters.

I’ve had many encounters in Uwharrie, I have been meaning to complie them and send to Wes. Explains the random gunshots we hear at 2am!

I camped there this fall and heard a howl right after midnight, there is no doubt what I heard. A gun shot was heard right after the howl. I was in Morris campground. I believe because their so many encounters in that area people are actually hunting them.
