The first recording of a “Moan Howl” known to have been captured, in 1994, by Matt Moneymaker of the BFRO. This comes from Columbiana County Ohio, near Wellsville on the Ohio River.

I’m glad I don’t live near forests with these creatures.

I would hold your hand Debbie C. as we both run like heck. Very cute.

I used to hear similar howlings after “last call” outside the local bars in the springtime in Barrie, Ontario. 😉

I found this on youtube years ago. pretty exciting for me because I live in and grew up in east Liverpool ohio, which is the neighboring town of Wellsville. my mother has lived in Wellsville for many years and owns many wooded acres down in the hollows of the town. beautiful country! I knew the howls were from the county I live in but not so close to my house. awesome!

I used to think this was Bigfoot until I heard a neighbors dog sound just like this a few years ago. It had been locked out of the house one night and moaned like this until morning!
