This is audio that was captured from The Big Thicket Watch Guide Service
Mo writes “The Big Thicket Watch’s first Expedition was a complete success- The team that Waylon and I lead had an encounter that was very scary, but all the team members handled it like Pros- We did not run out after we had the monkey Chatter(Warning) directed at us, we all walked out and made it safely to our cars, I got Eye shine and a low growl that scared me big time….”
A listener writes “I was on the expedition with everyone. Tim said I should contact you. Had a great time and had one hell of an experience. I do have a cast of the big print that we found and I’m trying to clean it up a bit. I also have some good photos (I hope) that I have to get developed. As soon as I get this all done I will send you the pics and a pic of the cast I have.”
Brian M
Holy crap.
Tyler D
Hey Wes, I’m a member and I can’t access episode 190. Just wanna know what’s goin on
Floyd L
I have had the same problem before–go back and Log on
ERIC N
We had vocals all night. Wes did they send you the monkey talk recording from the bridge? That audio is great as well
Wes
Not yet, I am going through all of the audio
Rich A
Hey Wes, How about keeping some laser pointers on hand as well as a spotlight. Aim it at the orb and see if it reacts or fades ?? Good stuff man.
Wes
That is where I heard the monkey chatter as well…the bridge
James M
PLEASE POST THE MONKEY CHATTER SOON. I THINK THOSE VOCALS ARE THE MOST COMPELLING. NO OTHER ANIMAL CAN MAKE THOSE SOUNDS. YOU NEED A PRIMATE VOICE BOX.
Hiker1
Hey Eric, I’m going on the March expedition. Anything you recommend to do or bring or that you would do or bring differently?
I am brining a thermal scope.
diana m
*shivers* Yup, that’s got a large vocal range. Thank you for the share everyone!
Note to self: Practice my Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan Yell

Yikes
pam
Envious as can be you guys that went on the “safari” LOL!
Addison A
I hope we actually see and hear more from this. That was good though. Why did the audio sound like it had been compressed over and over a hundred thousand times though
Patti M
nobody would have to worry about me running I would be passed out in a disgusting heap in a fetal position wanting all the Xanax in the world just to get brave enough to stand back up to get the hell out of there!
Paris A
That sounds legit.
Roy D
sounds like the gates of hell
Frankie P
Wow! Somebodies had a great time! Just great. So glad for the people that went, and for The Big Thicket team. Wonderful, and hope to hear more about the trip soon.
Richard S
Sounds like AP road baby!
Sharon L
Holy Crap! That is intense.
Richard C
This is fantastic audio, this group got their moneys worth!!!
Paul R
Was there, awesome trip, lots of activity and lots of night sounds to make you think “Their Here”
I highly recomend joining the Big Thicket Watch Guide Service for an adventure you will never forget. Ever…
Great bunch of folks.
Debbie C
All I can say is WOW!
Steven B
All I can say about those sounds is that a person DEFINITELY would NOT want to be out there by themselves and have that begin. Gives me the creeps.
Dave T
Sounds like a woods full of boogers to me.
caltros
Jeez. My ears are ringing and I didn’t even listen with headphones! How can any reasonable person doubt there is some beast behind those vocals?
thomas w
my wife said it sounds like an insane asylum of the woods. the one booger let off the first howl then literally all hell breaks loose. not enuff ammo in the world would make me feel safe. i would just want to lay down and die
Jan W
Oh wow!! Great audio and so happy to hear the trip was a success! Can’t wait to see and hear more! Thanks
Letty
I want my monmy….
Robert E
The vocalization at the 29 second mark that goes off the charts is insane. Sounds like after the first one starts there are possible coyote mixed in, but gosh damn that’s creepy.
Karey E B
My daughter said chimps actually wage war on each other, and said this sounds like war, and wondered if Sasquatch pods battle, and are cannabilistic. This did NOT sound like a friendly meeting…
Frank S
Wow, that was amazing!!!! I sure would love to go on that expedition. Maybe soon I hope. Can’t wait to see them pictures n more audio. AWESOME
James (Waylon) Johnson
There are some coyote that join in, but that is actually very common here and they easily distinguished. I was Mo’s co-team leader on the bridge when we got the monkey chatter. It was a clear and powerful warning. It is the closest, loudest and clearest chatter that I have ever heard personally and if unedited you will hear a pretty visceral reaction from me because I was the closest to it at the back of the group and walked point on the way back to the trailhead and parking area. It was recorded with a small pocket recorder one of the guests happened to have running but it still came remarkably well. Still it can certainly be cleaned up and team members will be doing that asap.
Charles R
I can not wait to hear the chatter and compare it to the Sierra sounds of which I have C D. Listened to this with headphones. First one went off then some coyotes and the whole forest errupted with some pretty crazy sounds. I have heard one close, very close, nothing like this.
congratulations
Chuck
James (Waylon) Johnson
Same spot the log was thrown at you and Bob, Wes.
Kay S
Terrific! I am so envious! Makes me want to mortgage the house and jump on a flight to America.
Mark T
I’ve got to tell you, Wes…
I heard something similar while waiting to count burned out lamp bulbs in one of OHSU’s parking lots at the top of Marquam Hill right before sunset last summer in Portland, Oregon.
The lot had a steep ravine below it that led to a dense forested area below.
As the sun started to set, a loud ruckus at the bottom of the ravine started up. It sounded like a pack of coyotes, but soon turned into a magnified noise like coyotes on steroids who had escaped an insane asylum.
I’ve heard packs of coyotes howling and yowling in the night before, but this was twentyfold louder than anything I’d ever heard before.
After listening to Mo’s sound clip, I’m starting to wonder if maybe I didn’t hear coyotes after all.
I suppose that the bowl-shaped ravine could have magnified the wild chorus as it rose up the slope on the warm summer breezes, but it sent a chill up my spine.
I do remember that although I was at least 100 yards away at the top of a steep slope, I still didn’t feel safe.
I instantly thought Sasquatch, but shook that thought of, thinking no way was there a family of Sasquatch in the heart of Portland, Oregon… However, there are quite a few green belts and parks nearby.
I hopped back into the company pickup and quickly left the lot… I do remember the moon was full that night.
As I left the lot, I do remember wondering if it really might have been a gathering of Bigfoots after all.
Mark T
Of course, my brother in law once told me there was a primate research lab somewhere…
I might have heard that, but was pretty sure that the sound came from the dense forested area at the bottom of the ravine.
Carla P
beam me up Scotty!
Pat T
Best vocals I’ve heard so far on this show. Can’t wait to hear more. Thanks again Wes
Clyde G
Wow…….talk about getting your monies worth!!!!
I would still be cleaning my pants out.
JEREMY E
I absolutely got my money’s worth I did write on the follow up on my experience with the chunk of concrete that was thrown at me and landed less than 10 feet from me , un real. I’m talking like a 5lb peice that come whistling in at my head and crashed on dome down fall. Then got howls to back it up. I’m definitely going back
Thanks guys
Chuck S
Jeremy, hey it’s Chuck. Just thought I’d let you know that I had a recorder over by where you and Tim were. I caught the “rock throw” on my recorder with you and Tim questioning each other…..awesome audio! My recorder was real close and the concrete block hitting the tree was very loud! Still reviewing more audio. Still, it’s more proof of what we experienced….my photos are being developed and I should get them back by Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed!
Chuck

Texas delivers!
Nancy A
It sounds like they a singing. Almost like whales. Actually I think it is thrilling, not chilling.
Paul M
Hi everybody. We have stayed for a few extra days in the jurassic woods down in TX. had a great time with the team. If you have a need for things that are not known about. Well this is a place to check out. My wife and I had not heard this kind of stuff ever before. The Howls. the Owls that have a dead giveaway at the end of their Vocals. Monkey chatter. If you have a need to know. This is for you.
Mike C
Some of the best audio you can hear I believe three different creatures and coyotes possibly regardless absolutely amazing
Michael H
Sounds like you really got your monkeys worth
Larry W
Where was it? Big Thickett or Sam Houston…or somewhere else?
Nalajr
Robert W
Wow I have got to get there. My brother and I are planning a trip!. Thanks to Mo and the team for offering this; by the way is Bob G on the team as well?. I thought folks said he was part of it. He is a great man!. Have a good rest of the week everyone!!. BW
Richard C
Just wondering if “Uncle Sam” will begin interfering with these Expeditions in any way.
Mo M
Myself and Waylon lead the expedition team to the exact spot that Wes and Bob got the log thrown at them and as we heard the Owls hooting, we got the chatter right after, Waylon says it’s time to go, so we turned back and walked putting me in the position of the rear and that’s when I heard the low growl. We get to the vehicles and a participant could not get his passenger door to opened up. I shined my light down to the creek and I got greenish eye shine. The eyes were very far apart, finally Waylon threw all the stuff from his back seat and said get in Mo, lets go…
JEREMY E
Thats awesome CHuck, Id love to hear that.
Larry W
I guess they don’t know where they were.
Elaine C
The only way I want to hear that in person is safely tucked away in a tank. Preferredly loaded…..
Both Me and the Tank.
Ted G
That is some amazing audio. I would really love to head out on an expedition. Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone. I can’t wait to hear more from the expedition members.
Dan P
That is MESSED UP! Scariest set of vocals I’ve ever heard. If I heard that in the wild, even for a few seconds, I would be outta there!
Johnny U
