John A. Bindernagel 1941-2018

Rest In Peace my friend as you always said to me “bye for now, because it’s never really goodbye” you are missed my friend.

John A. Bindernagel 1941-2018.

I am not really good with this sort of thing and I am too upset to write anything long….but John meant so much to so many people and he will truly be missed. I learned so much from John, he was the most humble, kind and intelligent person I have ever met and I was lucky enough to call him a friend.

So as John always said “Its never goodbye Wes, just bye for now” well bye for now my friend…I miss you, I love you and I will see you again.

    RIP Mr Bindernagel.
Thoughts and prayers for your friends and family.
It has been nice having a man with your qualifications and understanding of a creature most want to keep under wraps. The Sasquatch community will miss you very much. I am very thankful he was willing and able to do the Christmas show and did so probably knowing his future was short. Thanks Wes and a big thanks to John A. Bindernagel.

That’s sad to hear about his passing, he was a great guy and fun to listen to whenever he came on here. Just finished his recent episode here a couple days ago while I was catching up to the recent episode.

Oh man… rest good John B… you did so much for science and what you believed in. Takes a strong individual to stay on their path even when you have so many trying to change your direction. Thank you for everything. … wow

  5. Al G

What a profoundly sad day. Dr. John was one of those who was taken for granted by many in the bigfoot community. His commentary was always insightful, and his demeanor pleasant. RIP.

This makes me so sad. Dr. Bindernagel in my opinion was a very courageous man to continue his research of Sasquatch. The whole world is less without him. I’m sorry for you too Wes, what an honor and privilege you’ve had to be his friend and talk about all things Sasquatch. You should do a show about your’s and Woody’s conversations with him and what you learned. Take care. Love and prayers to his family of course

Big downer and huge loss in the bf community. Does this now just leave Jeff Meldrum as the only PhD willing to put his/her name behind any research?

    Sorry for your loss Wes.

  8. Sid N

Very sad news indeed! We sure will miss his little boy enthusiasm for the subject of Sasquatch, and the intelligent; insightful way he delivered about the subject. He came across as a very caring and humble human being. He is already missed, my condolences to all his family! ???

His voice no matter the subject always made my heart smile. His love for all things and life was beautiful to observe and get wrapped up in. I admired how he really listened to whomever he was speaking with. It’s made me stop the conversation in my head in order to truly hear what others are trying to convey. Rest in Peace John. May you finally get the answers you’ve so patiently waited for.❤?❤

Every once in a while you get to know a really good human being. Sometimes you can learn the content of their character through their words, laughs, sighs, and gestures. Though I did not know him personally I could tell he had integrity and he was genuine. He was a man that those who knew him personally would have said was a good man, perhaps one of the best. I am certain of this because his actions and words spoke so loudly of his kind nature and passion. I feel lucky just having heard him. My world was a little brighter just knowing he was in it.
I have sympathy for those that knew him personally. To lose such a human being is beyond pale.
Thanks to Dr. Bindernagel for sharing a bit of his passion and life, if just through words. We will miss him until our end.

Oh no.. i didn’t realize that the Doc had passed until I just found this. My prayers and condolences to his family and friends, as well as everyone whom he touched through his work. Doctor B was a great man, of great intelligence and intellectu. Witty and smart beyond comparison. Bigfoot work aside.. the world is a lesser place witout him in it. My heart literally aches tonight.

Rest in Peace, Dr. Bindernagel. You were such a brave person; risking ridicule, chastisement, and being excluded from the scientific world. Your open mindedness is what science is all about . . . that it is okay to “think outside the box”. History will treat you well. Farewell.

  17. David J

He was a vibrant man with a wonderful intellect. Yet, he was down to earth and treated everyone with respect and dignity. He will be sorely missed. He was truly a great man!

  18. Wendy C

The world has lost brilliant brain, a true friend, and an amazing humanitarian – let’s not forget what he has taught us all and in doing so, his spirit will live on in all of us . Love and Peace

  19. RickyV

Thank you Dr. Bindernagel for your heart, inspiration, and hope! May your marvelous spirit continue to shine through all the lives you’ve touched! I always loved learning from you! You will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace and paradise?

My sincere condolences to all of Dr. Bindernagel’s family and friends. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. His sincerity, intellect, and passion will be missed. As will his friendliness and understanding that he has shown towards everyone interested in this field and beyond. Rest in peace Dr. Bindernagel.

I didn’t know Dr. Bindernagel personally, but I am so glad I was able to hear him speak at the International Bigfoot Conference last year. He was so entertaining and likable. I can only imagine how much the people close to him cherished him. RIP Dr. Bindernagel and I am sorry the mystery of Bigfoot wasn’t solved in your lifetime. You will be missed…..

  22. John A

In a world that needs more John Bindernagels, we now have one less. Shocked to hear the news. A man so full of energy and passion, that it’s difficult to believe that he’d ever stop.

  23. Russell H

You will be well missed Dr. Bundernagel. Thank you for enriching our lives and the sasquatch culture. Your spirit and passion will live on through all of us. RIP my friend.

  24. Michelle L

My sympathies, Wes. I know you held him in high esteem as a friend, as well as for his brilliant mind. His kindness always shone through in his interviews and I appreciated his firm stance that if you are a scientist, you must remain open-minded. He was a true man of science and a standard bearer. Thank you, John for your wisdom and generosity. You will be missed.

  25. Synbios

This seems so sudden. I only just learnt about Bindernagel through your show. He seemed such a happy soul. My sympathies to his family and all those that knew him.

  26. Charles R

I am in shock, he just seemed so healthy and vibrant. That damn cancer. What a terrific human being that did so much for the Sasquatch World and wrote several great books I have read. I had the great pleasure to meet him at Salt Fork Lake Conference in I think 2012 and spend several minutes with him and get a picture or two taken. I will always treasure that time.

I know a huge goal of his was to get the scientific, academia peers of his to at least look at his research, and I do know their arrogance about this subject snf just abject refusal bothered him. He emphasized discovery made, but not acknowledgement. John was always the consummate professional, and did research and lecturing the right way in his field. I am most certain the Sasquatch also reside in heaven and now you can meet up with your life quest.

Folks we lost a great, great man.

  27. Jeffery E

The Sasquatch community will not be the same without this man. Based on media and other outlets, I thought he had more time with us? His books are wonderfully written and he was a joy to listen to on Sasquatch Chronicles and other media.
RIP Mr. Bindernagel and may your family be comforted during this time of passing.

  28. Trent M

Dr Bindernagel was a true gentleman and a real ambassador for the bigfoot community. He was looking for answers with all the other pioneers in this field and his easy friendly manner lent the subject much needed credibility. As sorry as I am for the loss his friends, family and followers are feeling I’m even more grateful for all he did to bring light to this subject. Rest in Peace Dr. you did a great job and you will be sorely missed.

  29. Blake C

Wow! I am shocked and sad to hear the news. I always enjoyed listening to the good doctors common sense and appreciated his open minded viewpoints. We all have to take that path…I like to think of it as graduation to a higher university. Dr Bindernagel knows the truth without doubt by now. R.I.P

  30. Rick T

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr Bindernagel. Thank you Wes for letting us know. Dr Bindernagel spent the majority of his life advocating for the study and understanding of this bigfoot or sasquatch species of which most of us here at SC know exists. I have watched him from afar for many years, fight for this cause, and I will miss him greatly. My condolences to all his family. Rest in peace, John

Another of the five old great men of Bigfoot/Yeti studies has passed away. They are now all of them gone, leaving we disciples to carry on for them. I remember Dr. Bindernagel with respect along with Dr. Krantz as those two had used their education for knowledge instead of obfuscation. Dr. Bindernagel made Bigfoot hunting a valued and valuable vocation for the curious and intelligent person instead of posturing by celebrities and crackpots. May SC continues the tradition!

  32. Christine J S

Doc B brought so much peaceful joy to the BF world by sharing his gentle wisdom and thoughtfulness regarding Sasquatch. We will all miss him and long for his participation in this topic. God bless you and your family.

  33. Roy D

Father. Please hold close to your heart, his family and friends at this saddened time. Help us to bring forth the John Bindernagel in all of us, by helping keep the spirit of this man alive. Not only by learning what he has taught us. But also with the kind soul and heart he possessed. In a world and a time where there is so much doubt. And so much criticism over a topic. He took chances, put himself out there. Helped raise awareness. He learned and brought us along for the ride. And for this we are all grateful. Rest in peace.

  34. Jessica R

Wes, I am truly sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing him with us. We are all a little more humble and wiser because of his greatness. I can only imagine the conversations he’s having right now with the omnipotent ones. ?

  35. Dina C

Oh nooo! I am so sorry to hear this Wes. My condolences to you, Woody, and all of those family and friends close to Him. He will truly be missed on this show and in the Sasquatch investigation world! ?
