A listener writes “I’m from utah and I’ve had one definitive and one possible encounter, both with 5 miles of each other in the mountains near where I live.

Let me start off by giving you some back ground on me I’ve been fascinated with bigfoot since the time I could read I’ve read the patty story over and over read about Baunum and about the cabin full of miners that was attacked, when I was in sixth grade i got an award from my teacher for knowing the most about bigfoot (it was just kind of a fun award) but since then I’ve kept it under wraps until I came across your pod cast, I didn’t know the bigfoot community is as big as it is. So use been able to get back into it and I’ve been able to share my story a little more and I’d like to share it with you. The first time something happened was around 2001 I was 16 and bow hunting with a church friend.

I wasn’t hunting I had just went with to show him the area. We both walked into the tree line and went separate directions from each other and i was roughly 150 to 200 yard into the wood line, and was just waiting and listening and at the time I didn’t put two and two together until I started listening to more encounters, but as I stood there the woods went silent and I got an uneasy feeling I was being watched, like something was behind me I could feel its presence, at the time I thought it was a moose cause I slowly turned my head just a little to try and see it, and I seen dark brown hair just out of the corner of my eye. So i looke around for a tree to put between us and when i stepped behind one i turned to see it and nothing was there so i figured that in the time i was mustering up the courage to move it (my moose) had walked away. That’s why I say that’s a possible one but the second one was a couple years later and roughly 5 miles to the South.

I was leaving that area at night it was roughly 11 or 12 PM and there’s a couple switch backs that lead you out as I was making the turn on the last one my head light caught eye shine and a face, I slammed on my back to kind of process what I thought I’d seen, my girlfriend at the time she asked me to just keep driving before I had even said anything to her, and when she said that I knew she’d seen it also so I put it in reverse to check it out, she started asking me to just leave let’s just out of here almost in tears. So I put it back in drive and took off. We never really talked about it since then but I’ve been back to that area and looked around and at the tree it was standing next to it was roughly 8 to 10 foot tall and probably 4 foot wide.

I only caught a glimpse of the face and from what I could tell it wasn’t happy I was there, it didn’t have a cone shaped head it was more rounded and tuck close into its shoulders and it looked to be black are really dark brown hair, his face looked fairly human but his mouth was further away from his nose, and his expression reminded me of Clint Eastwood in grand torino telling the kids to get off his lawn. I still go out and look for signs of bigfoot and love listening to your show”
