It was standing about 7 to 8 feet tall

My encounter happened in the late summer of 1999 in a small vacation town of Ocean Park, Maine. My parents had a vacation home on the main street of this town.

I was walking with my son at dusk just around the corner from our home. My son was around 6 years old at this time. We rounded the corner just across the street from one of my friend’s home. The backyard of this home ran up against a thicket of woods that ran about a acre along the street.

The street lights had just came on. We were suddenly hit with this pungent skunk smell mixed with death. There was then a low growl from the bushes as we approached. My son stepped forward to see what was making the sound. I cautioned him to come back to me. Which he did. I relayed to him that a few Summers back that I had ran into a skunk that ran out out of the woods …promptly did an about face…and shot a 10 ft stream of it’s spray at me. He said “but Dad it sounds like a dog?”. This part of town was pretty well populated by vacation homes on .25 acre lots (Aside from this thicket with led several acres back to th B&M railroad tracks) A place were my friends and I would have keg parties to avoid being caught. LOL. Anyway, the local dogs were harmless.

They would growl as you approached…wagging their tales. I would growl back on a non- threatening manner. And they would let me pet them. So with my son behind me…I stepped forward and growled back. Thinking it was my neighbor’s dog who chased a skunk. When I stepped forward I saw, to my surprise, to the left of the growl standing about 7 to 8 feet tall the face of a sasquatch staring at me through the trees. It had a furrowed brow with a befuddled look. This one who growled must of been crouched down behind the bush.

I then suddenly was filled with this feeling of terror. I was trying to register what I saw. And slowly back away and grabbed my son. He was excited, and asked if I saw the dog. I told him to come with me…and we walked into a populated area down the streets where there were cottages on each side of the street. I thought quick, trying not to scare him. And explained as we started walking at a pretty good clip that if we did pet the dog that was sprayed by a skunk, we would be bathing in tomato juice that night. My heart racing, all I could think was that at any moment the sqautches would burst threw the brush and have us for dinner.

We took a longer route home down the main street where people were walking. I spent the whole time in silent prayer. Asking Jesus to send down some angels to protect us. We have not been back since. Man, to think my friends and I spent many a late night partying and hiking through that area every summer. Thank God Sasquatch likes to remain in the shadows.”
