It was 7-8 ft tall with reddish brown hair and walked on two legs

I want to thank listener Mike, for sending me this encounter. Mike says:

“I am writing you in regards to some events that happened to me and my wife Lisa in the spring of 2006. We wound up renting a place down there so she wouldn’t have to drive 100 miles round trip each day. We found a nice place out in the middle of no where. We lived 9 miles from the nearest paved road. The town of walsenburg has one traffic light. My wife worked the 10pm to 6 am shift.

On her way home one morning she was driving along down county road 330,ideal road. She got about 2 miles from the house when something crossed the road 50-75 yards upfront of her. It startled her to the point to where she stopped so sudden it stalled our vehicle. We had a stick at the time. She said it was 7-8 ft tall, was reddish brown and walked on 2 legs. It crossed the road from north to south. Now when she told me this I wasn’t sure as to what to think. Damn sure wasn’t going to call her a liar. I’ve heard of Bigfoot as a kid,had seen the pg film or stills from it but assumed it was fake and never gave it a second thought.

It wasn’t long after her sighting we had strange things happen around the house. We had two pit bulls at the time, they would often run around the house growling under their breath, acting odd wanting to go out. This would be 1-2am. On one occasion I heard things I would assume to be rocks hitting the roof. My wife has heard more. It got to the point to where after 10 at night we didn’t want to be out side, would get weird feeling, hairs on the back of your neck would stand up. Just feelings of being uneasy. We eventually moved back to Pueblo and still live here.

I’m an avid outdoors man. Was raised and spent 30 years of my life in the Florida panhandle fishing, camping and hunting. Still fish and camp. I have never had the feelings of uneasiness before or since that time. I heard a show of yours about a gold mine and his encounters. He mentioned the Spanish peaks here in southern Colorado. We lived not far from the base of them at the time. It’s between walsenburg,LA veta and agular. That road, ideal road, country road 330 will take you to the Spanish peaks.

Like I said,I never seen it,but had some strange occurrences happen around the house after Lisa seen what she did. At the time didn’t know much about Bigfoot or give it any thought, thought it was fake as a kid and that was that. I did report it to Oregon Bigfoot at the time, never heard anything from anyone but when I heard your guest mention the Spanish peaks it brought it all back. Thanks for putting out an awesome Show. Very informative we enjoy listening to other encounters. Thanks for letting me share.”

Weird happenings went on around there. We moved there in the fall and was sad normal as could be. Would see elk, turkey, rabbits,Bob cats the normal wildlife. Then it got weird quick. ‘S end funny now looking back how it made you feel. I’m 6’ 230 and have never felt those feelings in my life. Grew up and spent most of my life tromping through the Florida panhandle swamps without a care in the world. It got to be too much. Lisa was afraid to drive herself worried she’d be stuck out there if something happened to the vehicle. It was a remote isolated road. You would be lucky to see another vehicle on the road during those times. After silver spur road which is about 3 mikes into it that was it. Just a windy bumpy dirt road that had to do 25-30mph down. Still camp, fish all over in remote areas of Colorado and have never had those feelings of uneasiness before or since that time. Glad I could share our experience with everyone. Never talked about it with or to anyone.

We still have one of the dogs we had at the time. He is now 13 years old and still kicking. It wasn’t every night that something would occur. The events leading up too it are weird. I remember having friends over and we grilled some BBQ chicken out on the deck. Right around dark a pack of coyotes was howling in the distance. We made jokes about it,they smell the chicken, you know it’s good when you make coyotes howl, stuff like that. The next day our dogs were gone. We put out posters, rode all over looking for them. Spent 2 days and a tank of gas searching all over for them. After 2-3 days we thought they were gone. I actually thought some rancher had shot them for messing with cattle. A lot of free range cattle out there and those ranchers will shoot your dog for chasing or harassing them. Didn’t want to tell Lisa that but that is what I thought. 6 days after they ran off seen a shadow on the porch and there they both were. They were ragged, skinny, smelled and bandit had porcupine quills all in his face and scratches on his haunches. Lisa helped me hold him down while I used pliers to pull the quills out. That’s a chore,if you’ve never done it, don’t. It’s a Pain in the ass trying to hold a pit down while pulling quills with pliers. We got them bathed, fed and cleaned up and never heard another coyote. Brutus is still with us. Figured they chased the coyotes off. They never ran off again. About 2 weeks after that is when it crossed the road in front of Lisa and all the weirdness started.

Mike, thanks for sharing your encounter. My family and I have been going to that area for years for week end get-aways…so to speak. I live in Castle Rock, Colorado and off of I 25 we take U.S. Hwy. 160 west from Walsenburg and branch off on Colorado Hwy. 12 to La Veta and travel on to Cuchara and Monument Lake where we either take our RV or rent cabins for the week end and fish, relax with friends, etc. A couple of years ago several of us were staying in an isolated private cabin near Monument Lake. We were all out around the fire pit around 10:00 pm when the hair on the back of my neck stood up and I got the creepiest feeling that we were being watched. There was no one out there but us, and the cabin backed up to a steep wooded mountain. My sister-in-law abruptly got up and went inside…..I followed her. When we got inside she looked at me and said, “Something is out there….I am staying inside”…….I told her I felt the same way. Within about 30 minutes everyone……except for a couple of the guys who were drinking a little too much ….. had retreated back inside. The guys told us ladies that there could be a bear or mountain lion on the hill, but the feeling was much different than if an animal was there….hard to explain….and animals on the hill would not have made our “macho” guys ….who are all outdoorsman ….retreat inside from friends and family sitting around a great fire, drinking and socializing. Not long after that some of us were staying in an isolated cabin in the mountains above Ft Collins. As we were sitting around the fire pit the first evening we got that same creepy “someone or something is watching” feeling, pebbles thrown at us, and during the night of the second evening we got the creepy feelings of being watched, pebbles thrown in our direction, and a large log thrown against cabin around 3:00 am…….other things happened but that is jest of it. That was a very unnerving night. My husband is a hunter and outdoorsman and up until that time he had always given me a hard time about believing in Bigfoot…..let’s just say…not any more.

Definitely the oddest feeling I’ve had on my life. We had rocks thrown at the house and logs placed where they weren’t supposed to be. Mostly pinon pine and juniper surrounded our house and the land scape. A log would be placed and knew it didn’t come from the closest tree. It was bigger than the trees that were right in the vicinity. I never seen or smelled it. Lisa had that pleasure of it crossing the road in front of her. Did experience things out of place and the rock throwing. I do know the odd feelings I would get we real. Hairs on the back of your neck standing on end with a tingling feeling all over. Guess it’s the primal fear in us? Not sure the explanation, just know the feelings are real. Have experienced them myself.
