It continued backing over the hill

A listener writes “I grew up outside of Sandy Oregon, and grew up with these things running around on our property since I can remember. They use to follow me around it all the time. They would come up to the house at night. Killed a goat, and other wildlife. I’ve seen them in the Umatilla National Forest quite a few times. Seen them with my children once. My sister had many experiences with them to in Oregon and Montana where she lives. I’ve had friends tell me there experiences to. if you would like to hear them let me know.”

Spoke to the listener and asked about his experience in the Umatilla National Forest. He said “I was going through a bad divorce with my kids’ mom at the time. We were all having a rough time, so I told the kids, “Hey, let’s get out of the house. Let’s head up to Jubilee Lake.”

We loaded up the truck and started driving down the mountain. Out of nowhere, my daughter, she was probably about six years old said she needed to use the bathroom. I looked around until I found a place where I could safely pull over. There was a spot off the side of the road surrounded by really thick jack pines.

I helped my daughter out of the truck and told her she’d have to use the bathroom beside it. She was fine with that. While she was doing her thing, I was standing at the tailgate, looking off toward the driver’s side, facing west.

Then I got this uneasy feeling. I can’t really explain it, but something just felt wrong. Suddenly, one of my sons started screaming at the top of his lungs.

“What is that? What is that? Oh my God, what is that?”

He was nine years old, and he was absolutely losing his mind. I immediately said, “Whoa! What are you talking about? Where? Where?” Then I saw it. It couldn’t have been more than about 80 yards away.

There was a small clearing with a gentle rise in the ground, and this thing was standing near the top of it. At first, I thought it was just the shadow of a tree. But then I realized the tree’s actual shadow was right beside it, and the sun was behind both the tree and the shadow.

This wasn’t a shadow.

By then my daughter was saying, “I’m done! I’m done! Get me in the truck!”

I grabbed her, put her back in the truck, and shut the door. My driver’s window was still down. My oldest son was crying uncontrollably, completely terrified. I just sat there, staring at it. Then my daughter asked, “Dad… what’s it gonna do?”

That finally snapped me out of it. I was trying to make sense of what I was looking at. Then it started moving. Whatever it was, it stood every bit of eight feet tall.

It began backing away over the rise while we watched. My oldest son kept screaming, “It’s coming, Dad! It’s coming!”

But instead of coming toward us, it continued backing over the hill.

Then it turned. It made a smooth, effortless about face, and the way it moved was unlike anything I’d ever seen. The only way I can describe it is that it looked like it stepped onto an invisible escalator.

It just… went. In what couldn’t have been more than two and a half seconds, it was gone.”

This would be a great guest! I recall that Cliff Barackman lives in the the Sandy, OR area… He says that there are numerous sightings around that region.

Indeed. And his North American Bigfoot Center is just up the road NW a few mile from Sandy, Oregon, and has found a good amount of tracks in this general area. It certainly would be interesting hearing some of his stories of his youth with the Sasquatch.
