WJCL writes “From babbling brooks deep in the mountains to the swamps near the coast, Bigfoot sightings are nothing new in Georgia. Fact or fiction, a unique roadside museum just outside Blue Ridge is home to all the evidence you need to make the decision for yourself.
“It started off as just a little hobby, said David Bakara. ” When we opened up we realized there was way more interest in Bigfoot, so we just kept adding and adding to the collection.”
In search of Sasquatch at museum dedicated to Bigfoot
Searching for Sasquatch is David Bakara’s life.
In 2016, he and his wife Malinda, opened Expedition Bigfoot! The Sasquatch Museum.
The 4,000-square-foot bigfoot museum in Cherry Log is a beacon for Sqautchers and skeptics alike.”
“There’s way more to the world we think there is,” said Bakara. “You don’t have to fly all the way to the Himalayas or to China to have an encounter with one of these creatures. If you look at the maps you’ll see just how close a lot of these sightings are.” The mountain museum includes life-size exhibits, photos, hair samples, audio and video recordings and interactive displays dedicated to the mysterious cryptid.
“The people that think they’re real have seen them in the wild,” said Bakara. “Usually the people that don’t believe just have to see one to believe it.” The museum doubles as a research and reporting center where visitors can share their personal encounter or experience with the creature.
Expedition: Bigfoot! The Sasquatch Museum is located at 1934 GA-515 in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Normal business hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day & New Years Day.
General admission is $9, ages 5-12 get in for $6, ages 5 and under as well as active military get in for free.
