Hey Wes, I listened to episode 914 and literally shot right up out of my chair. I worked at that LA for 13 years, and I know there was a Bigfoot living back there.

I worked the night shift at the LA for six straight years. I used to walk between our production buildings at night checking on my crews. The area was patrolled by the Marines, and I knew most of them. Even so, they would still challenge me all the time. I’d have to put my hands up, lie flat with my badges extended, and wait until they could positively ID me. I knew the drill well.

Things got a little tense around there in the late ’90s. After one particular night, I started calling the COG before I would walk between the buildings. That night, the Marines lit up the backside of the LA perimeter fence and I don’t mean with lights.

The COG told me it was a deer getting into the perimeter countermeasures, but I knew better because I heard the entire thing. What happened was almost exactly what that Marine described, and it was about 400 yards from Lake D.

Also, some of the people in the comments giving him a hard time don’t realize that Lake D wasn’t a state park. That area could be reserved through MWR for service members and cleared civilians to camp and fish. Nobody else was getting that close to the LA.

The reason I know it was a Bigfoot is because I was attacked by one on the St. Mary’s River in 1983, about 25 miles west of there, between the base and the Okefenokee Swamp. Luckily, I was in a jon boat and was able to get away. I think it wanted my stringer of fish. I have never been that terrified in my life. I was 18 years old, and I grew up a lot that day.

They are not your friend.

That dude is a good Marine, and I have absolutely no doubt about his story. Those guys used to sit in the woods and in guard towers all along our movement routes. He described everything exactly the way it was.

He even described the CQB teams and the drills they did exactly right. Sometimes we would clear the production buildings so we could walk those guys through them. That way, they knew the layout and how to take the buildings back if they ever needed to.

I honestly couldn’t believe it when I heard someone else corroborate what I knew had been going on back then. Wow.

I knew I wasn’t nuts.

In our business, you just didn’t talk about stuff like that. So I never did.”
