I Saw It Standing Just Outside The Trees

A listener writes “Hey Wes, I recently started looking around to see who I could share my encounter with, this happened in august of 2011. I found your show online and began listening to it recently. The guests you have on there seem genuine and thats what i was looking for, didnt want to be made to look like an idiot or crazy by some random podcast.

Let me just start by saying that this has been a closely guarded secret that a couple of coworkers and myself have been carrying around but since then i lost contact with one of them and the other died of pancreatic cancer earlier this year. I am a land surveyor here in Tucson Arizona , been doing it for about 15 years now. During the the recession back in 2008 alot of us in this field found ourselves doing something else, anything to bring in a little cash at the time. There was alot of little survey companies around town trying to hang on and would hire guys part time and pay you under the table. In early 2011 I picked up the phone and started calling around to different companies to see if anyone needed any help and i came across a person that did. At the time we agreed he would pay me 11 bucks an hour,, which would have been an insult before the crash and be his rod man on the weekends and as needed. i took the offer and to be honest with you i was really happy about it at the time.

In the summer of 2011 the owner of the company picked up a job about about and hour east of Payson , AZ . Payson is west of the Mogollon rim and thats where we would be staying the night, The job we were hired to do was set vinyl panels (big white Xs) with GPS . The owners of the enormous parcel needed a topography survey because of the trees and the terrain the job needed to be flown and elevation shots taken by airplane, therefor requiring us to set the the vinyl targets and assign them elevations for post flight processing by a company out of Tucson.

The first day was when we met the owners in Payson at a Dennys, we met them at about 9am after about a 3 and a half hour drive from Tucson. The job was tough thick woods about 100 acre parcel in the middle of nothing but u.s forest. We had no luck first 2 tries at vhf this job . We ended up going back three times. One thing after another the last night we were there we picked up a dude fro. Phoenix, who the owner of the company knew to help us. He sucked ! Anyway it ended up getting dark on us and we weren’t going to go back up there 4th time .we ended up getting lost because of that dude mike . It was August which is Arizona’s rainy season. We found ourselves walking around for hours looking for the stupid truck in the dark.

At about 9 we said screw it lets find some a soft patch of dirt and crash out till sun up which is about at 5am. At 10 something started moving around in the dark. We thought it was a bear so we started making noise . Whatever it was was circling and was clearly bipedal sounding. That was worse because not even hillbillies would be out there on a Sunday night in the middle of nothing. Long story short we ran and by some amazing reasons wefoing the dirt road about 5min later . Our dumbasses were right by it the whole time..we jumped in the truck and were driving off I was driving

We hit a switchback and it was then I saw It standing just outside the trees in the headlights. There’s a lot more to this . If you want to contact me I’ll give you the scoop. The whole thing messed me up for weeks.. I’ve been wanting to get this off my chest for years”

Like Wes sometimes says, “It’s all fun and games until you run into one.”

Dear Listener, I hope that you are able to speak with Wes and that you find it very therapeutic.

Dang dude! So happy you’ve found this place called SC.

Is it just me, or these watchers, these unclassified beings, do they seem like they’re showing themselves on a great scale?

I wonder if anyone who’s had an encounter, say close up like Wes & his brother, can they glamp anymore?
