I saw a very dark figure “crawling” on the ground

In 1988, Jefferson County, PA When I was fourteen, I am 39 now, I was out rabbit hunting on our farm. It was getting dark so I started walking towards home.

I entered the field to head up the hill, just then I saw a very dark figure “crawling” on the ground. It reminded me of an alligator walking due to it wasn’t using its rear legs. Instead it was dragging them behind it while on its hands and stomach. I was unable to tell where it went from there, it had gotten very dark and I stayed put until my dad came looking for me with the tractor.

I was too afraid to keep going due to fear. I remember it was hairy like an animal and appeared long in length. I went down the next day and seen where the drag marks were from it dragging its feet and where it seemed to get up and walk into the woods. Large footprints were still in the ground. Not sure anyone would believe me, I never told anyone. I was raised around all animals on the farm, been told what large animals were in the area. Never seen anything like it.

Not using its rear legs just dragging them? How creepy is that? Talk about being sneaky……dirty apes.
What were its intentions in doing that? Trying to sneak up on him? Trying very hard not to be seen? That is definitely strange behavior.

time after time u hear about them dropping down to the ground stomach level when seen, so this doesnt suprise me. some say they travel sideways on hills and hunt when in packs much like soldiers do, so crawling on the ground (under trip wire-esque) is probably another level of not being detected.

In my kung-fu class we sometimes do “spiderman–that is, we crawl along the ground like Spiderman crawls up a building. But we use our legs, too, it would be harder to drag our legs. I would think that would make more noise, too. Dragging itself through the mud to protect its legs from flies? Maybe?

It sucks that people feel the need to keep these encounters to themselves–scared to death and then forced to stuff the experience back down, like choking back barf when you have the stomach flu. Especially sucks for kids, I guess.

I have been saying for YEARS that they crawl like a snake. I was seriously dissed for it. I am now starting to hear it all over. I feel vindicated! Thanks for the account.

Crawling on the ground! That is freakin creepy! That would scare me more than to see it standing in front of me. These creatures are soo strong that they can do things with their bodies that we could only dream of. Like on the episode where this hunter shoots a sasquatch and another one puts the dead one over it’s shoulder and climbs a vertical rock face. Amazing.

Using the ground as a napkin? Who knows what the critter was doing. Building his arm muscles? Thank goodness these monsters don’t have quality gym equipment for their size and strength. Plus I’d hate to see a squatch get ticked off trying to use a programmable treadmill. Anyway, thanks for sharing your encounter.

Certainly it must of been a bear with SBP or Spontaneous Bear Paralysis. The bears with this disease will usually lose movement of their rear legs for short periods of time with no symptoms until the paralysis begins. Wow even I almost believed my bullshit. Lol.

I am the Pennsylvania investigator that took this report. The witness was extremely freaked out and bothered by its movements. That scene was burnt into his mind. I am also majorly stoked that it was referenced here on Sasquatch Chronicles!!! I am a huge fan and feel vindicated.

This is a coincidence. I wanted to start a topic on this very crawl subject. We keep getting this “creepy looking crawling” thing which seem to have had a resurgence over the last month. However no one can explain it because its so odd. I would like it if someone could try draw a imitation of how it would look. I am thinking spiderman.

There are a multitude of reports referring to their ability to belly crawl low to the ground to avoid detection. Being amazingly stealthy, agile and powerful, they are masters of non-detection and the “ninjas” of the night. Even the large “alpha males” have the uncanny ability to seemingly vanish and often go to the ground to use foliage, vegetation or the forest floor to their advantage. I can only imagine a mischievous juvenile creeping up on a camp site or a home without ever being seen. It has to be particularly alarming and unsettling to have one of these creatures sneak up within close proximity of one’s location. I have seen thermal footage of two creatures belly crawling along the ground to a vantage point in an effort to observe a group of people and it was amazing and scary as hell at the same time. These two had their arms outstretched and appeared to use their fingers to effortlessly move quickly while being very low to the ground. It literally haunted me for several weeks after viewing it. It was very spider-like.
