A listener writes “Greetings Wes, I’ve had 2 sasquatch encounters in my life. The most recent was in July of 2019. I was tubing down the rainbow River near Ocala, Florida with 3 friends. This area is Florida cypress swamp which is rural teaming with wildlife, mostly birds, fish, many species of snake, alligators and deer.
I observed a water bird standing on a tree stump. I then observed a dark brown furry hand reaching towards the bird. There was a large humanoid ape-like creature squatting behind a cypress tree attempting to grab the bird. The creature quickly swatted towards the bird in a grabbing motion as if he was attempting to capture it. The bird rapidly dove into the river escaping the creatures grasp. At this time there were two boys approximately 8 to 10 years old laughing and splashing in the river behind me. The creature immediately looked at the children, and then looked at me.
I made eye contact with it, and it immediately started looking around before it ducked behind the brush. This creature was approximately 8 feet tall, with extremely wide shoulders, weighing maybe 400 pounds or more. The creature attempted to blend in with the foliage, but it’s brown coat was a conspicuous against the mostly green plants that surrounded him. As i slowly floated downstream, i observed the creature stand up and wildly run of into the woods with its arms flailing high up by its shoulders in a hopping stride.
This experience was utterly terrifying as i was close enough to see the creatures muscle tone and piercing brownish black eyes.”

Tubing down a river infested with gators and water moccasins is a scary enough story on its own! That’s my worst nightmare! Lol

I’ve been to Ocala several times as I reside in Fort Lauderdale….It’s a skunk apes paradise… My home is a mile from the everglades and back yard has a wooded view with a canal that connects to the everglades…I’ve seen otters and alligators and even panthers on the other side of the water. Thanks to SC and posts like yours I’m ever vigilant for a chance encounter with one of those creatures from inside my house preferably……

In late April 2019 we rented a vrbo house on a short, but wide, cana,l on the St. Lucie River in Port St. Lucie. Sitting out by the pool deck we saw a gigantic gator swim down past us. This had to be 12 and probably more feet long. I agree with the folks here, no way would I get in any river or creek in Florida, only on a boat which I have done. That said, I have heard and read more, of Sasquatch taking down deer and pigs, carrying off goat, sheep and livestock, and chickens. Now a large Florida water bird attemt. This is a fantastic encounter to witness and hope the listen comes on to tell the tale. I wonder if the Skunk Apes have an appetite for the python and boas that are so destructive in Florida. Perhaps sometime we may hear of such an encounter. I have heard how Janice Carter described how they deal with rattlesnakes. They pick them up by the tail and in one crazy fast motion whip them so hard their heads snap off.

Wait a minute. This river is teeming with alligators and snakes but there were 8 and 10 yr old boys splashing around in the water? What?
