Back in the summer of 2004 my family and extended family went camping in Kings Canyon. We had 4 camp sites next to each other along a small creek.
Our campsites were surrounded by trees on the left & right of us with the road in front of us & a row of bushes about 6 ft tall behind us. On the other side of the bushes was an embankment with a sharp slope of 4 to 5 feet down to the creek and then a meadow. This row of bushes ran parallel to the creek & the back of the 4 camp sites. On our second night there we were sitting by the campfire after dinner. My brother in law was sitting closest to the row of bushes which were about 20 feet away from us. I was next to him on his left and to my left was the rest of our group in a semi circle. We were all laughing & talking and for some reason, my brother in law turned to his right and looked over to the bushes.
I think he must have heard a noise or something. He pointed & shouted look at those red eyes! Since I was sitting closest to him, I could see exactly where he was pointing. All I was able to catch was the top of the bushes moving like when someone is ducking down behind them. My brother in law jumped up to run around to the back side of the bushes to see if he could catch whoever it was behind them. He and the rest of the guys in our group ran over to see who was there but couldn’t see anyone or anything. They ran to where there was a path that lead to the little bridge that took you over the creek which was about 40 yards or so away from where we were sitting. But they found nothing.
Now remember, he pointed up to the top of the bushes where he saw the red eyes. On the other side of the bushes was the embankment and then the water. So you would have to be at least 8 ft tall for your head to be near the top of those bushes. And how the heck did they get away so fast when there was a creek and a meadow behind us!? It’s like whoever was there just vanished into thin air. Later that same night I was sleeping in a tent with my husband. I woke up to something walking near the tent. It was something big because the footsteps were heavy. I froze. I waited and listened to whatever it was as it slowly walked away from our area and then I fell back to sleep. About 1/2 later across the road from us some bears wandered into our neighbors camp. Those campers made a bunch of noise to scare the bears away.
I then told my husband about what I had heard walking by our tent earlier that evening. He shrugged and said “it was probably just those bears.” I thought maybe it was maybe it wasn’t. Can’t say for sure. All I could think about was the red eyes high up in the bushes.
Kings Canyon is a very beautiful place however, I was very happy that we were going home the next afternoon. I have yet to return.”

It seems like it’s getting harder to find good outdoor camping areas that doesn’t have the threat of the Big Guy showing up to spoil your families fun…Thank You for your story…

It wouldn’t surprise me if Sasquatch frequent all of our campgrounds. After all, they are the masters of hiding…and we ARE really entertaining to watch. Humans are Sasquatch Reality TV. ?
