Huge tree was broken in half and thrown towards us

A listener writes “Three years ago I joined a hunting club in Arkansas, I’m from Louisiana. I went hunt for a week because it was a 5 hour long drive one way.

Me and 3 other members were sitting around the fire talking about hunting stories. One of the members started talking about at night you can go to the edge of the swamp and spotlight hogs. I kept saying let’s go, after a while they agreed to make a quick run back there. We parked the bikes and walked down a trail for about 100 yrds. All of a sudden a howl/ scream that rattled my chest came from the swamp which was around 40 yrds in front of us. The dog was the first to take off toward the bikes.

I guess we were too scared to move, as we started trotting back a huge tree was broken in half and thrown towards us. We took off running, as we were running back we heard whoops on the left and right of us. A guy with us turned and shined his light and said there were 2 big red eyes tall above the trail, but I didn’t see this. The next day we went back over to the spot and found big tracks at least 16 inches long, a broke tree about 7 foot off the ground, and in an old abandoned shed there we found a pinestraw bed about 8 foot long 5 foot tall. And in a corner of the room was a huge pile of feces. The whole time we kept hearing sticks breaking but couldn’t see anything.”

I hunted a spot out by the Hobbs State wma in Arkansas last fall and as I sat waiti g for a deer I heard a tree fall. I could see plenty of downed trees so I thought it was probably just a natural occurrence. I went out another day, same area, and again a tree fell. Now I have spent a lot of time in the woods and never hears a tree fall. Once I can believe is natural. Twice in the same area, over a couple of weeks? Hmmm.
