The story of the Great White Shark who was left behind in this Australian aquarium. We take a look at Rosie the Great White Shark. Recently news has featured one shark in particular. Her name is Rosie and she is a great white shark that’s been left in an abandoned wildlife park.
Rosie has been left in her tank since 2012 and she isn’t doing well. Her story first starts in 1998 when she was captured in fishing nets close to South Australia. It’s thought this was a mistake but the damage had already been done. After this her body was transferred to the wildlife park where she would be displayed. However after the park close nothing was done to try and save her, she was left to rot in her exhibit.
A video was uploaded to YouTube around a month ago that featured this shark. It gained millions of views and people started to express there concern about the shark being left where it was.

The story kind of makes you think Rosie is still alive but in reality the shark has been dead since 1998 and stored in formaldehyde.
She has recently been moved so don’t fear, the dead shark is once again safe. ?

I was about to be so upset, not that sharks are my favorite, but if she were alive and left behind…..
Odd story though, can’t believe they didn’t take care of her after the park closed.

I’m glad someone is taking care of her but I hate the way she died.

Such a pathetic end for such a magnificent animal. I don’t want to be in the water with one, but do admire them as the apex predator that they are. We know so very little about them, and world-wide, their numbers are falling…seems as tho one of the few areas they seem to be doing well, for now, is the northeast coast of the U.S.
They don’t belong in an aquarium…they are pelagic sharks that need to be in the open oceans. It’s documented that they have never been able to survive in an aquarium environment, even as youngsters…shame that the place thought they could keep her/save her.

Yeah Jan is 100% right, no matter how big the aquarium is they all die within a week or so and I really thought they had given up trying to keep them (great whites) well before 1998?

The fact a story like this is real shows how clueless some zoos and aquariums are. Especially when it comes to large fish and mammals. It’s sad and time to stop this cruelty to animals. Lord have mercy!
