Gifford Pinchot National Forest | Sounds of the Night

Thomas Potter writes “We camped out at a remote location in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Mount Adams in Southern Washington. You will hear a tree fall, a number wood knocks, stomping, clicking, branch snapping and possible vocalizations. All of the gifting items were taken as well.”

LOL! Obviously, Kathy, you are an avid fan of camping deep into the wilds with things to go “whoop!” in the night… 😉 😀 ROFL! A 2 word reply that gets a complete point across…

Been there a lot. The higher you go, the worse they are. They’re actually pretty close to trout lake, Bigfoot that is. I’ve stopped camping there. It just freaks me out. Right now is prime berry picking too but they like berries as well. Local native Americans pick berries up there and don’t seem too bothered by them, at least during the day. I saw part of one peeking at us through the trees. I loved boondocking up there…. those days are gone. There are lots of lava tubes up there and I think they hang out in them.

If you want an encounter, just go berry picking in the berry fields…early morning or at dusk. They’ll find you.
