Game warden has encounter with a creature

A listener writes “My name is Corey and I am from Oklahoma. I have a friend who is a game warden with the Oklahoma Fish and Wildlife Department. He has asked me not to give his name, so I will not. My friend recently has had an encounter that he shared with me and I asked if I could share with your show.

He told me I could, just to not give his name. Anyway, the encounter took place in southeast Oklahoma around the Antlers city area. My friend received a mountain lion in a wooded area that was stalking some people who were out camping. He arrived on scene and the people were packing up their things to leave.

My friend asked, “What’s been going on?” The man replied, “It’s just been walking around our camp and growling at us every now and again it’s scared my wife to death and we are leaving now.” The couple got in their truck and drove away. My friend had his rifle in hand and was just standing next to his truck in the open area they were camping in. My friend told me it was a lot quieter than usual…and something seemed off. Like something was watching him. He of course assumed it was a mountain lion.

As he was listening, he said he could finally hear it begin to move. He told me it sounded off. I asked what he meant. He said it sounded like it was walking on two feet…not four paws. And it sounded much heavier than a mountain lion. He flipped the safety off his rifle ready to shoot, just in case. He sat there still listening and as it kept pacing back and fourth, he told me he heard a growl. Like a deep from the gut growl…not like a mountain lion growl…but much deeper sounding.

He grabbed his high power flash light and was about to shine it in the direction of the sound, when from about 50 yards behind him he guessed he heard a loud roar…and he said the roar was so loud he almost actually fell over…he said he froze for a little bit…and he said that’s when he heard some footsteps coming towards him. He flipped on his flash light and about 20 yards in front of him was a Sasquatch…he described me the details…it was about 8 feet tall, broad shoulders of about 4 feet wide, long black hair and a squished nose like an ape…he also said this thing looked so muscular…like a giant body builder and he could see the biceps and triceps and they were just massive.

Like this thing looked like it had bowling balls on its arms. He said he pointed the rifle at it and when he did the creature didn’t move. A few seconds after he pointed it at the creature in front of him, he heard the one behind him roar again. But this time it sounded much closer. He said that’s when he feared for his life, he jumped into his truck and hauled his ass out of there as fast as he could.

My friend has been a hunter all his life Wes. He knows what’s in the woods and what sounds creatures make. He said he’s never seen or heard what he saw and heard that night…he’s so scared he won’t even go camping by himself anymore which he used to do all the time.

Anyway, I just thought you’d like to hear this encounter. Wes, I’ve heard some stories about encounters in Oklahoma. I believe Oklahoma is actually a Sasquatch hotspot in a way. I was wondering your opinion on Oklahomas Sasquatch stories. Feel free to share this story online. If you have any questions, please email me back. I’d really love to hear from you.”

I hope someday this game warden will step up and share his story in person! How awesome. Okay, how scary. Two of them? Yeah, I would have jumped in the truck too! Why did it stay around with the second truck arriving though? That is a real intimidating couple of bigfoot.

We need get this guy on an episode. I want to know what the other game wardens have to say about it. Will they hush him up, or allow him in “the circle of trust?”

Makes you really think, what was so important that they risked staying like another poster stated? It was a campground and not some virgin or remote forest they intruded on that would be more territorial instinct. Maybe it was first activity of the season or young ones around? Just curious but then again, what’s not curious about these things? The nose with the larger body rather than the smaller skunkape type body that usually goes with the apish nose sounds peculiar too. I could be mistaken in that though.

These things are just menaces. I’ve come to realize they are no good at all. They harass people at their homes kill our dogs steal food just to mention a few things. They are unlike any other wild animal and something must be done about it. What? I have no idea but they must have some type of weakness.

Yes, they are a menace and unlike any other animal…just like humans!!

Seriously, we are the most invasive species to have ever occupied this planet. Unlike any other species before us, we have single-handedly destroyed the earth, and all the life upon it, in a mind-blowing 200 years! At least the Sasquatch are able to live in a symbiotic balance with nature, whereas greed, selfishness, and our desire to control leave man as the ultimate menace…

Some same this concept is too idealistic, but NO, the Natives were able to take this approach and live successfully for tens of thousands of years. Just take a moment to think about it…

Michael, that wasn’t a direct attack on you. I’m sorry if it came across that way. 🙁
Your comment reminded me of an important message I would like to share with everyone…

I bet that wasn’t mention in the job discription! “On occasion you may run into a couple of large creatures that may want to have you for a meal, as a new employee we wish you all the best with these encounters. By chance if you live through this please inform us the location as well as what took place”. If they are not telling the Fish & Game employees what’s going on out there in the deep woods then we have no chance at being notified as civilians on what is happening in the woods. I wonder if the higher ups that make such dessions even tell their families on what can hurt them in the woods or they just don’t care about them either? All the best to the Game Warden who had this encounter!

I live in Northeast Oklahoma and we’re known for our prairies but from Oklahoma City east it’s nothing but rolling hills and tall oaks . Everyone here is pretty much good folk but very tight lipped about the creatures. It took my father 44 years to tell me why I couldn’t hunt in certain spots of our family farm . I’m glad that to hear that people are finally coming out!! Awesome story Wes! !

Several and I’ve actually seen the lights he’s mentioned. You can Google spook light in Miami, Oklahoma but those look different than the one I have seen on our farm..

This is very rare activity by a Sasquatch clan, Not so unusual to circle campers but to have one actually charge in the open is. Was it a last desperate bluff charge, if so it certainly worked. Was this a campground or was it a remote camp that had somehow intruded on a clan of Sasquatches that had claimed this territory for a while? They could have had the game warden had they wanted but they let him escape so all worked out for the best, as it almost always does.

That was scary. I have been to Antlers, OK. It os a pretty good clip to Honobia. Its about an hour drive or more going through Broken Bow. My dad lives in Bethel and Honobia is about fifteen miles north of Bethel. My fiancee decided to go for a walk at 3 am in the morning. I heard this loud female scream loud enough to wake me up. I woke got into the car looking for my fiancee. I found her walking up the road. I picked her up and took her home. She heard the scream. It rattled her a little. I told her not to do thst again. Too dangerous for anyone to walk around at night by themselves.
