A listener writes “I have been listening to your podcast and I really like it. You are doing great job. First of all I would like to remain anonymous. I have been in different aspects of law enforcement for about 30 years and really would prefer not to give out my name.

I heard on your show a guy from Texas talk about shooting a creature you said was similar to Baphomet and another from WV talk about some weird hoof tracks in the snow that disappeared. What I experienced was similar to these accounts. So here is what I experienced.

In the early 90’s I was a forest ranger. I was responsible for forest fire/wildfire control and law enforcement in a large area. This area was located very near to the Daniel Boone National Forest.

When I would receive a call about a wildfire I would gather a small crew and do the initial attempt of fire control and evaluate the fire and it’s potential for destruction such as property damage, forest damage and loss of life. If me and my hotshot crew couldn’t put the fire out I would call out for additional resources but the initial response was small and direct.

One fall night I think it was mid October or early November I received a call from dispatch about this wildfire that was on private property but near the Daniel Boone National Forest. It was pretty late at night I think around 10:30PM so I gathered a crew of only two fire fighters and headed to where the fire was reported to be. As we got close you could see the orange glow against the dark sky. The fire was on a hillside and judging by the the light that it was giving off, it was big. We drove around the perimeter of the fire for about 15 minutes and could not find a road up to it so we decided to scale the hill. The hill had a very steep slope and where the leaves had fallen from the trees and accumulated on the slope and against the fence it was very difficult to climb. We had to use smaller trees to help us pull ourselves up the slope.

I could smell the smoke and feel the heat from the fire as I climbed the slope. I was the first to get to the top of the hill and what I saw has perplexed me since. When I got to the top of the hill there was a clearing of dry grass about 2 feet tall. It was on fire and the fire had everything glowing kind of like a campfire glow but everywhere.

In the middle of the fire was a creature about 25’ away from me and it was dancing in the fire. It could have been stomping the fire out but I felt like it was more like dancing because it was looking forward not at the fire. It didn’t seem like the fire was any concern to it. It was about 4.5’ tall. It had a human like face but a goats body. It’s face was hairy like a man with a beard but the beard started high on the cheek bones and hung down like a medium length beard. It had a sharp nose like a humans but looked a little sharper and flatter than normal. It didn’t have any clothes on that I could see and it had hairy goat like legs. I couldn’t see its feet due to the flames of the fire and lite smoke. It appeared to have horns that turned back on its head but they were close to the head and didn’t turn in a semicircle like that of a rams horns. I didn’t see pointed ears like a goat. I really don’t recall seeing ears at all.

When it saw me, it acted like when you are caught by surprise doing something you shouldn’t. As a law enforcement officer I have seen this before from people trying to avoid me after I have caught them committing a crime. It danced a few more steps then it glanced half way toward me but stopped like an “oh crap” moment. It then turned left and walked about 30’ while its head was turned slightly toward me as if it was watching me out of the corner of its eye without giving me notice it had seen me. Kind of like when you see that crazy guy you went to school with in the grocery store and you don’t want to talk to them so you watch out of the corner of your eye to see if they see you and where they are going while you quickly move away without letting them know you have seen them.

It walked in the opposite direction it was originally moving for about 30’ stopped turned around and then turned back in the same direction where it had just come from. This is where it really gets weird. It started to disappear from the legs up as it walked along as if it was walking down stairs. It finally completely disappeared. I was armed but never felt threatened at all. From the first time I saw it until it disappeared, was approximately 25 seconds. I walked quickly to where it had disappeared expecting to see a cave opening which that area has a very karst topography, but the ground was solid.

The fire was almost completely out except for a small area about 6’ x 10’. I finished extinguishing the fire. One of my fire fighters had come up behind me. I asked him if he had seen anything and he said no except for that goat. He then said where did it go? He was worried that it may be wounded from the fire. We sat down and drank some water for a few minutes and I looked for tracks to try to confirm I wasn’t delirious. I did find some smudge marks in the ash of the grass but that’s all.

A few years later I was watching the movie “ The Witch and the Wardrobe“ and the little goat guy looked very similar to what I saw. This thing was not Baphomet because it did not have wings. I did some research and the best description is that of the Greek God and protector or the woods, Pan. I know this sounds crazy but I assure you it happened. I have 2 undergraduate college degrees and a graduate degree. I have been in law enforcement for 30 years and have seen about every horrible thing people do to each other but this was a whole different thing. Thanks and Keep up the good work on your podcast.
