A listener writes “This happened in 1983 or 1984 with me and my brother in law Don ,I was about 24 he was about 25 we live in prince george british columbia and this happened about 60 miles north of prince george on the crooked river. How our day started was we were making a boat trip up the river from summit lake to mcloud lake witch is about a fifty mile boat ride, we were in a 12 ft aluminum boat with a 10 hrsp motor ,so this is a long trip making it a one to two night camping trip depending on the portages we had to go over, anyway we started our trip up the river that morning in a great mood about 9 until we broke the prop about 1hr into the start ,but being tough guys, hunters and trappers we decided to continue just taking our time fishing the holes on the way up , about 6 hrs into our trip we came up to a wide opening in a wide part of the river were there was an old trappers cabin on the right side of the river this was collapsed and we decided to check it out,as we were heading to it my brother in law Don said a big fish just jumped or some body just threw a big rock and said think it was a rock ,I said it was a dolly they get up to 40lbs maybe it was a tail flick ,anyway we pulled up to the bank got out I took my 303 rifle with me up this small trail to the old cabin we smelt a strong odor Don went to check out the smell.
He went left up a small trail I went to the old cabin about ten seconds we heard a roar and he came running back I was already heading for the boat I made it to the the boat and he jumped in as it was a long jump for him as the boat started to drift out when I jumped in and he skidded in about 5 ft as he got into the boat when we looked back we saw trees trees shaking about ten ft apart ,and another rock was thrown at us as we drove away.”

HaHaHa Chris! And please people leave the 194 ep. thing alone. Wes will address it when and if he wants to. He already said it will not be back. I understand all sides in this, and think we should just move on.

WHOA !!!!
A 40 POUND DOLLY VARDEN ???
First off you know nothing about Dolly Varden…………!
World Record for the Dolly Varden is 18.9 pounds, caught in July of 1993 by Richard Evans.
The Arctic Char has been mistaken at times to be a Dolly Varden by some fishermen but even then, the record is 32.9 pounds, caught in July 1981 by Jeff Ward.
No more drinking and fishing, tail flicking or cabin exploring !! Maybe try that story from the stage of the Prince George Playhouse across the street from the Casino…………..

I have no idea what a Dolly Varden is… A fish I’m assuming. Sounds like Do
Parton n we all know

My phone is too sensitive! Great encounter even if fish was less than 40 lbs. squwatch can be (are) aggressive n territorial. When we camp this summer at Lake Tahoe, we’re bringing a gun.
