Discovering Dinosaurs In Frozen Antarctica

Real Wild writes “This video explores Antarctica’s prehistoric past, revealing a lush, forested continent teeming with life during the early Jurassic period, about 190 million years ago.

Scientists uncover fossils from this era, including Cryolophosaurus, a large carnivorous dinosaur unique to Antarctica, and Glacialisaurus, a plant-eating dinosaur that roamed the polar forests. The film delves into how these dinosaurs adapted to the harsh polar conditions, including enduring long, dark winters. It also highlights the evolutionary significance of Antarctica as a migration route during the Mesozoic era when it was connected to other continents.”

Thanks, Wes, for this post. I hadn’t considered Antarctica as a place to find fossils. They discussed many things to consider. For example, how they determined why certain species had extremely fast growth rates. How some species might deal with 4 months of darkness and cold. All very interesting. Thanks again.
