Did I Just See That?

A listener writes “I have had a couple of sightings through the years and also what I think have been encounters but when you do not have a frame of reference you don’t know what you don’t know.

I don’t think these experiences are that uncommon. I think the species is much more prevalent than we believe. There is a lot of open space…at least in the northern states and they could roam free without any disturbance year around. Possibly a human visiter on occasion but for the most part undiscovered. I have no background in any particular science that would loan any credence to my thought process regarding the things we don’t understand.

To me the unique part of my experiences was the fact that even tho I know what I saw…I still tried to convince myself that I didntsee it. I have had several experiences that fall into that experience. The programming is real and it’s not just to dissuade the population from reporting on sasquatch or anything else that is out of the ordinary. I think there are several things that because of this programming people see but their minds do not allow them to consciously take note. I grew up without tv or really any outside influence. I grew up poor white trash. I’m 48 now…born in 1970. I didnt see a color tv until I was 7 or 8 and we didnt have a color tv until I was around 13. We didnt ever have cable so we had 3 or maybe 4 channels. I spent my time outside.

I was never aware of sasquatch. I had no knowledge of the Patterson / Gimlin film. When I wasnt playing sports I was with a friend or my 2 cousins who were around my age, in the woods playing. Where I lived there was a swamp right behind my house. There was 3 or 4 swamps in the immediate area and a lot of unused farm land. I would say about 5-7 miles as the crow flies of patches of farm land and forest. No longer worked just vacant land.

We would play in the woods all the time and hear a lot of the howls and the screeches that I have heard on your program and others. I can remember hearing rocks falling through the birch and maple trees. I can remember the bent over trees and what seemingly were tree graveyards where there were downed trees scattered in small areas. I remember leaving the woods after a loud screech or howl. Not because we thought it was sasquatch but we knew it was an animal that we didnt want any part of. The smells of what seemed to be wrotted flesh or strong putrid skunk smells. We just didnt know.

My first actual encounter was as an adult. I was driving on a dirt road off the beaten track. There were several lakes in the area. Most just a couple acres but a few larger mixed in but lots of woods for animals to get from lake to lake. There were houses grouped together but enough trees to allow animals to travel.

The road was not very wide. Barely enough for 2 vehicles to pass each other. I was driving down the middle of the road because the edges were chewed up and I didnt want to get sucked down into the marsh on either side. The road sloped and then there was a 3 or 4′ drop that was the drainage ditch for the road.Tall marsh grass and pussywillows grew alongside the road. As I was driving my mind was wondering and I happened to notice in the midst of all o fthe green trees a large red patch. My mind always searches for differences in whatever environment I am in. It was about 20 yards ahead.

As I got closer my eyes were glued on the red patch and I could see fur. Then it moved behind the marsh grass which was about 8 – 10′ tall. I could hear it breaking the dead wood or branches as it moved through the wooded area. The snaps of the wood that I assume was laying on the ground was loud. You normally wouldnt pay attention to that sound but this was unusually loud.

Loud enough that you could tell that something large was moving through the woods. I knew immediately what I had just saw. I live in Michigan. This was in mid Michigan. We dont have bear down here. Too far off of the ground to be a deer. There really isnt anything else it could have been. My mind was trying to disgard what I saw. I kept thinking to myself “did I just see that?”. I have an open mind about life in general. I know there are things that we dont understand and animals that we haven’t discovered.

It’s still a daunting task to just believe. You have been told so many times that there is no such thing as sasquatch and that it is a myth that you are overcoming the programming and it’s astonishes me how difficult that is even tho I believe that the gov has an agenda and has no issue lying to the public.

My 2nd confirmed sighting was around the same area. I live in the Detroit area and we were coming back from my ex’s parents place. We were done but stayed together for our daughters for a few months while she found a place. The girls didnt know so we had to keep up appearences. Anyway…she was driving. I was just taking in the area when we drove past a house up on a hill. The house had a pond that was off to the right of the house about 100 yards away and an old barn that was closer to the road but still about 100 yards from the house.

Both were lower than the house and the slope of the yard went up to the house. About 20 feet from the house was a sasquatch. At first glance I thought is was a HUGE dog but as we got closer I said to myself…thats no dog. Sloped head. Large. Huge. It looked like the video of that beast from the video that was supposed to be from the 70’s where they show the beast just looking at the camerman and then deciding it was going to charge.

Supposedly the camera was just found or was in a rummage sale or something. But that animal looked just like this one. Really fluffy hair. On all 4’s. Massive limbs. I couldnt see the face because it was lockied onto the house. It faced the house and was frozen. It wasnt moving. Maybe they were feeding it. I dont know. I couldnt tell how big it was as in how tall but it was massive. If I had to guess it was around 7′. It wasnt as large as some of the sasquatch that I’ve seen in various videos. It was large though. It’s possible that the hair being so fluffed out gave it a little more bulk but even at that…it was huge.”

I enjoyed reading this, fluffy Sasquatch…I love the thought of bigfoot having the same thick unruly hair that I have 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Of course having been raised in Mid Michigan, I am curious as to the location, at least county. I think the video you speak of is a hoax, but of course it could be a different video than the popular one that has been around the horn. Also like you, no one ever talked about any Sasquatch and if one believed it was thought to be only in the PNW. We also only received two channels for the most part which was probably a blessing as being outdoors and involved in sports and games occupied our time. Poor an white – OK – but you were no trash. Hope to hear you on the Big Show.

Thanks for saying that Charles. You just read my mind! Poor. Okay. Trash? I do Not think so. I can’t wait to hear this account. I’m so glad folks have Wes’ channel and can send email to. It has to be therapeutic to write it out & talk to Wes about it all. Thanks and I look forward to hearing this story explained.

This would make for an interesting episode.

Idk there are many people who say that video looks exactly like what they saw…..maybe it was real but TOLD he needed it to have been a hoax?

I am very familiar with the mid-Michigan area and some of the more notorious swamplands in that immediate area would be the Foley Swamps in Oscoda County, inside the Huron National Forest. Many reports emanate from that area in particular.

The only critique I would offer to this specific story is give us enough to believe. I want to believe it but it lacks specific dates and times which are important in establishing historical views in comparison to what is already known to that particular area. Established sates and times always adds to credibility and established believability.

If you want people to believe a story add the date and time and the place where it occurred. Otherwise without establishing the basics of who, when, where, and what with a time, a day, a month and year or an approximate date and year or season all you have is a story.

    Why is that important?

If the basic who, when, where and what are included it becomes exceedingly easy to go back and cross reference the year, the month, the day or hour against all known reports in that area (Oscoda county) and if there were that year, month, then it would be easy to say this is highly believable and yes probable they were there when you claim they were.
