Here is an interesting report from 2015 in Jackson County, Illinois
While driving my work van just as I was coming over the top of the hill (over pass) a tall dark figure passed in the tree line.
It was walking too tall for a human. It was maybe 7 to 8 foot range because it was at the mid point of the trees. There isn’t a rise there it’s flat I checked because I drive this way 5 days a week twice a day. I watched it walk for several seconds until it disappeared into thicker tree growth. Was stopped due to bridge construction (flagman).
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Stan Courtney:
I spoke with the witness by phone. I was unable to speak with her bus aide.
In summary:
• The animal was walking with a determined walk on a grassy path next to the railroad.
• The animal was 7 and one half foot tall.
• The animal was solid blackish brown in color.
• The animal was thin going to muscular in build, with a thick neck.
• The witness watched the animal for a full minute.
• The witness was unable to see the animal’s face.

That’s my neck of the woods. If there was a perfect spot for these things to live and survive, it would be southern Illinois. I grew up on a farm in union county (next to Jackson), and never remember anything happening. However, I’m down there at least 3 times a year, and I believe I finally had an experience this past deer season. Just a vocalization but not 100% on it. Wes, you’re more then welcome to explore my acreage if you’re interested. I emailed you a year ago offering that but I i never heard back. I know you’re busy but the offer stands if you wanna change of scenery lol.

Southern Illinois a long history with Bigfoot. The Big Muddy Monster is the local name of BF down there. You have the Shawnee Nat’l Forest, wilderness areas, and state parks; plenty of deer and other wildlife; lakes, streams and creeks; lots of agriculture. This means remote forested areas to live, food to eat and water to drink. Everything a Squatch could ask for.
