A man saved his wife from a bobcat by picking it up with his bare hands and throwing it across the lawn, a viral video appears to show.
The video, which looks to be taken from home surveillance footage, begins with the man greeting a woman jogging down the street.
He says “I need to wash my car,” as he puts down his cup on the hood to pull out his car keys to unlock his vehicle. His wife appears in the video as he opens the rear car door.
That’s when the howl of a bobcat can be heard. The woman stops to see what made the sound. She yells “Run! Run!” as the bobcat appears to be attacking her from behind.
The man runs around the car and grabs the bobcat, holding it as far away from his body as he can. The wife runs back into the house.
The female jogger returns after hearing the commotion. “A bobcat!” the man shouts and throws the animal away from himself.
The man shouts at the bobcat to “Get out! Get out! Get out!” The jogger runs towards the animal, yelling “Go! Go!”
The bobcat lands on the lawn, about ten feet away, and immediately runs underneath the car.
“I’ll shoot that f****r!” the man shouts.
He sees someone off-camera and yells: “Watch out! It’s a bobcat that attacked my wife!”
“A bobcat?” the person asks.
“A bobcat!” the man can be heard yelling back.
The video had garnered over 5.3 million views as of Friday morning. Most bobcats are known to give humans a wide berth, but those who are sick or rabid sometimes go on the offensive.

My husband watched this probably 20 times yesterday. And I don’t blame him. To go from, howdy neighbor balancing your morning pastries and coffee to “I’ll shoot that f—–” in a split second is….well, amusing? Lol don’t judge.

That wasn’t funny to watch, glad everyone was ok.

I’m impressed. I hope I could react and do the same to protect my wife and family. Some thing altogether not right with the cat.

I’ve had numerous bobcats walk thru my yard over the years, usually late evening/night. They are afraid of us. That one may have very well been sick.

Yeah that was bizarre. I wonder if there are babies close by somewhere. Or perhaps the woman was carrying some food. Hope she’s ok…and the bobcat. I love the Big Cats.

This is one of those rare moments captured in time; will it be “fight” or “flight”?
The star of this epoch moment enters the scene as a “Mr. Roberts” and in an instant transforms into “The Terminator” defending all that he loves. Just after he tosses the cat, he appears to pull a handgun as he pursues the cat that is now apparently pursuing his wife.
You are “That guy” Mr. Roberts. Good job!

As his wife appears, she seems to be holding an animal carrier, and the bobcat maybe could tell if there was a small animal in it for food or something, It sure came running back after the man threw it. I think he lost his cake though. Good job!

Bobcats have tails? Anybody else notice this bobcat had a tail? Or am I seeing things?

Well, hello! I was thinking that and looking to see if anyone noticed. That cat had a fluffy, long tail, like a domestic cat. Just sayin’. No, that was NOT a “Bob Cat”. But whatever it was, it was mean.

Where was this? Anyone know?
Jo M
Just says North Carolina. The cat tested positive for rabies. Yuk.

Note the wife was carrying an animal carrier? It was likely after that.

that ‘cat was about 1/3 the size of bobcats that I have observed in my local Nat Forest

After watching it many times I’m amazed at how fast this guy went into action. No kidding! Good for him. Carrying concealed, coffee and morning treats. His wife is one lucky woman!

????????????????????????????????great job protecting his family ???? that long tailed (odd) bobcat made the record for the most flips in 1 throw, under two seconds

That man was better than Rambo…what a hero

The cat wasn’t necessarilly suffering from rabies. It’s likely infected with CPV. The canine parvovirus. It jumped species into felines years ago and has made infected wild cat species around the world especially aggressive and unafraid of humans.
