Paranormal Portal writes “The Ancient world is full of mystery and intrigue. There seems to be ample evidence that are ancient forebearers were far more advanced and capable than our conventional thinking gives them credit for. Additionally, our ancestors seemed to be well aware that they shared the world they lived in with other beings and presences. Sometimes in peace and other times in a fight for survival. Tommy Cooper and Jason Trost of Cryptovania join me on this episode to discuss a lot of these ancient wonders and intrigue from Giants to Bigfoot and even the advanced nature and ability of our ancient world.”

Live Science reports “Archaeologists in Egypt have unearthed the 3,200-year-old remains of a military barracks containing a wealth of artifacts, including a sword with hieroglyphs depicting the name of Ramesses II.

The structure contains a series of storerooms used to hold grain and ovens for baking. The team also found the remains of pottery containing the bones of animals, including fish. Multiple cow burials were also unearthed at the site, Ahmed El Kharadly , an archaeologist with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities who led excavations at the site, told Live Science in an email.

Cows In ancient Egypt symbolized “strength, abundance, and prosperity, as cows were revered as celestial deities,” the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a translated statement . However, El Kharadly thinks that, in this case, the cows would have been used for eating. He noted that cow bones were found in a silo area near an oven, “which confirms that they were probably divided into parts and then stored in Silos after drying,” El Kharadly said.

In addition, the archaeologists discovered the remains of weapons, including a bronze sword inscribed with the name of King Ramesses II (ruled circa 1279 to 1213 B.C.). The sword was found in a small room in the barracks, near an area where an enemy could try to infiltrate, an indication that this sword was intended for fighting and wasn’t just for show, El Kharadly said.

They also found two inscribed limestone blocks; one has a hieroglyphic inscription that mentions Ramesses II, whereas the other cites an official named “Bay,” the statement reported.

The ancient Egyptians placed the barracks along a military road in the northwest Nile Delta. Its location would have allowed troops to confront groups coming into the Nile Delta from the western desert or by the Mediterranean Sea, the statement said.

“It’s an important discovery for understanding the strategy and especially the logistics of Egypt’s military under Ramesses II,” Peter Brand , a history professor and director of the Karnak Great Hypostyle Hall Project at the University of Memphis in Tennessee. Other military sites built by Ramesses II, such as forts, have been found in northwest Egypt, but they are not as well preserved as this one, said Brand, who was not involved in the excavation.

“The weaponry demonstrates the place was well armed and may even have been able to produce some weapons on site,” Brand told Live Science in an email. The bronze sword was “likely given to a high ranking officer as a royal reward,” Brand added, noting that “the king’s name and titles engraved on it increased the prestige of its owner and ‘advertised’ the [king’s] wealth, power, and generosity.”

Anthony Spalinger , a professor of classics and ancient history at the University of Auckland in New Zealand who was not involved with the excavation, said the discovery of the site corresponds well with textual accounts indicating that a group called the Libyans were becoming a growing threat to Egypt. “The fortress/garrison was meant to control entrance into Egypt,” Spalinger told Live Science in an email.

A listener writes “I’m from a little town in the upper peninsula of Michigan and have been hunting and just living in the woods my whole life so I’m pretty comfortable with the woods.

So back in 2015 I was hunting with my younger cousin just like we always did during deer season, it was about 6am so it’s still pretty dark out and we had been sitting in the blind for about an hour at this point and things were going pretty routine, the woods are calm besides the occasional squirrel running around the blind and the bugs making their sounds, when all the sudden the woods went silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

I looked at my cousin and we were just like that’s odd but maybe there’s coyotes or a wolf around making all the prey animals hide away. but as I’m sitting there in the dead silence I’m thinking “why would the bugs go completely silent?” After the initial silence, it was about 20 minutes when this loud knock in the woods what sounds like 20-30 yards away, and then was repeated 3-4 more times. after that the woods came back to life about 10 minutes later. After sitting in the blind all morning, we went to my grandpas for lunch. my grandfather hunts in the field 100 yards to the left of where we were sitting so i asked him “hey did you hear anything weird this morning, he looked over at both me and my cousin and goes “No…..why what you hear??” kind of in a concerned yet mad way. I just told him I heard some loud knocking. he then told us to just forget it and he walked away.

So we finished off that deer season as usual, but after the season we usually fix up the blinds and take care of stuff for next season. Now a little bit about my grandpas land, he owns 80 acres of swamp, pine forest, and open fields that used to be corn fields surrounded by the swamps and forest. so it’s really great hunting land but also extremely thick where you cant see 30 ft in front of you.

I asked my grandpa while working on the blinds if I could hunt his old brush blind that sits in the middle of the swamp and where he shot his biggest whitetail buck, and he hasn’t sat there since 2001 which is the year after he shot this buck, so I figured id try sitting there since it’s prime deer area. when I asked him if I could hunt there he looked at me with this angry and concerned look the same way he looked and my cousin and i when we asked about the noises we heard and he says “you don’t dare go to that part of the property and you definitely don’t hunt there, now dont bring it up again” that weirded me out but just figured the blind was gone or just no good for hunting.

my next experience was august of 2022 when me and my father heard this odd howl, whoop sound idk how to describe it but I did get it on video which I will send you. we were sitting in the living room watching tv when all the sudden this extremely loud and deep howling or whooping started from the woods behind the house which is in the direction of that swamp blind my grandfather doesn’t allow us to go near. so I grabbed my phone and started recording through the screen door.

This experience occurred during the past deer season in November. My usual hunting blind had collapsed, and having not hunted for over five years since my time in the Marines, it was natural that upon returning home, I wanted to hunt. so I decided to use my grandfathers swamp blind, the one he told me not to go to. Now this is around 5pm I walk in to the blind and get situated, I was sitting there for about an hour and a half when I start hearing a grunting sound almost like a bear, the woods are dead silent, not a bug humming, when I notice this hairy bear like animal by a big toppled over pine tree and this tree had been dead for awhile so it was reddish brown and this animal was crouched half behind it looking towards me, I grabbed my binoculars and looked at this thing, when I looked at it I could see it wasn’t a bear.

It then stood up on 2 feet and I’m about 50 yards from this thing. when this thing stood up it was like nothing I had ever seen before, it was massive and just super muscular. I think I might have jumped in my chair when it stood up because it turned away and started running and this thing was so fast, it was there one second and gone the next. I sat there in silence just trying to rationalize what I just saw, about 5 minutes after it ran away I heard this blood curdling scream that made me freeze, I then called my grandpa to pick me up and he asked where I was so I told him his old blind, after I told him where I was he hung up and was there so fast in his ranger, as I was getting into the side by side we heard that thing scream from what sounded like right next to us, we drove off so fast, as were leaving my grandpa looked over at me and said “you seen it didn’t you”

I then knew, I should’ve listened.”

The UnXplained Zone writes “Frightening encounters with the legendary monster known as Sasquatch are reported in almost every state of America. These run-ins with terrifying upright hairy beasts date back centuries and sightings number in the thousands.

Despite the many Sasquatch reports, skeptics point to the lack of evidence as compelling reason for the creature being merely a myth. See more in Season 3, Episode 19, “Critical Evidence.”

I met my wife a few years later in college and ended up marrying her and moving in with her and her family on their 40 acre farm and her father owned the timber cruising company.

So stepping into a brand new world that I have really no idea about, I went from avoiding the woods to being in them everyday. We walk where no one else walks, we cross water that is sometimes chest deep, so the fear of alligators and bears really spooked me to another level being from the city and all.

Going into my first encounter, it was probably 4 or 5 months into me working and I remember having to cross this stretch of water that was pretty deep, and fight through tye tye and briars to get to this particular plot. We travel by GPS handhelds that give us the direction to walk in and how far. But after I fight through all that I get about 70 feet from the plot center and there’s this cleared out section in the midst of all this thicket and all I remember feeling was I just walked into somethings living room.

Whenever I work and walk in the woods I play music on my phone, as soon as I got to plot center I don’t hear but I feel this deep growl to the point my chest vibrates. For some reason I tried playing it off saying it was my music so I shut it off to kind of prove myself right, but a couple of seconds later I hear another growl and felt it the same way, but this time I was able to pinpoint where it was coming from it was just behind this thick set of trees and bushes I couldn’t see through it.

So I get scared and call my wife and she’s telling me its a bear not to run kind of stand your ground. So at the time I carried a handgun because I was already scared of the woods so I remember taking it out and as soon as I did that it went ballistic started making aggressive grunts and shaking a pine tree that was just out of sight but I could see that top. I remember my wife saying that doesn’t sound like a bear and as soon as I heard that I let off maybe 5 rounds and took off running, when running off I had to step over the tree beds because their was water between them and as I’m doing so i can hear it right on my left side splashing through the water and at the point I was terrified I shot 3 more times while running and once I got to the water I had to cross it went completely silent. It really messed me up for a while.”

Lacey writes “Hey Wes! I started listening to your show after my encounter that happened in the fall of 2020 in Willow Creek, CA. Since then I have tried to make sense of what happened and your show has given me insight and validation, but has also left me with more questions than answers.

Takes a lot for me to do this but here it goes..
During the fall of 2020 I was trimming for a medical marijuana farm and staying with friends in willow creek, ca. I currently live in my home state in the Midwest but lived in Humboldt County for 7 years during my twenties. So when the pandemic started, I lost my job as a massage therapist. Being that is was an awkward time to do my job anyway, I figured why not see my friends and make some money while in waiting to see what would become of my career.

By the time my encounter happened it was October and I had been working out west since July. Autumn in that area is typically busy with travelers, so I thought it would be cool to meet a guy on a dating site while visiting to help pass the time. Right away I hit it off with a fellow farm worker who happened to be right down the road. We went out for dinner and decided to continue the night by laying under the stars at a local campground called camp Kimtu right outside of Willow Creek on the trinity river. The campsites were further down the road but we decided to pull of on the beach by the water. Since I had been living do on the road, my car was full of camping gear. We took my sleeping bag with blankets down a path to the water not far from my vehicle. For the record we did have a 12 pack of steelhead ale(my fav local beer) but each of us had only had two beers. One at the restaurant and one on the river bank. It wasn’t long after laying there that it started to rain so we ended up getting into my car to wait out the rain. The rain lasted about an hour(which to my knowledge it was the first rain of the season) and during that time we stayed inside until it stopped. Eventually we made it back out but decided to just sleep there and continue hanging out. I have a rav4 so we put the back seats down and made a bed. While doing so I took out my camping tote which had some really valuable gear inside as well as his backpack and guitar (This is a key part of the story bc it just doesn’t make sense that if it was a hoax then why didn’t “they” steal our stuff?).

At this point it around 11:45. The bed was made so we sat in the back of the car with the hatch door open(which was facing the river) to smoke a joint. I was wrapped in a blanket and he in his boxers snuggled up to me. A few mins into conversation we started hearing a low guttural growl coming from the rocky beach down towards the water. Take in mind it was super foggy out and there was no street lights around. So we never actually saw what was making the sound but oh did we hear them.

The sound went on for about 30 secs or so. It almost sounded like a didgeridoo at first but you could tell it was a voice. Kind of like a growl/gargling sound. It radiated around us in a way I have never heard before. What was also really weird, we both immediately became emotional and struck with fear. It was like my body became immediately paralyzed. Tears started streaming down my cheeks as we grabbed each other and I said “that’s not human” it was like my nervous system instantly knew something was off. He then yelled really loud “Hey, what are you doing down there!?” (This is when it gets absolutely terrifying and I mean seriously the most afraid I have ever been in my life. I still to this day have ptsd from this experience. It’s gotten easier to tell this story but it continues to haunt me. I dream about it and think about it constantly.) The sound abruptly stopped when he did that but only for a second and then proceeded to SCREAM the most ungodly, otherworldly sound I never in a million years would imagine to hear. We instinctively shut the back door and laid down shaking. At this point it was pure terror and somewhat surreal. Almost as if time stood still but it all happened pretty fast. As we lay there trembling and not knowing what to do next, the sounds began to get louder and more intense. It started to sound like multiple high and low pitched voices that were howling, yelling and at some points it sounded like they were laughing. Almost like a gorilla/hyena hybrid. That sound will forever be burned into my mind. We both became hysterical. He also started to cry and kept asking me what do we do?? I told him to lay still and be quiet. I couldn’t believe this was happening. Then, they surrounded my car. It literally sounded like they were all around us. It truly felt like they were taunting us but in the most horrible way and trust me it worked. The cackling and howling with talking btw, they seriously have a language. We could hear them bantering back and forth. It was like nothing I’ve ever heard, until someone played for me the Sierra sounds. It’s absolutely unnerving how similar that recording is to what we experienced. Also at some point during this they began making really loud thud noises but not sure how. This went on for what seemed like forever but in reality it was only 15 mins or so until one of them was so close to my back passenger window that we both screamed uncontrollably and the guy told me to drive! I frantically found my keys in the mess of blankets and jumped in the driver seat. I just remember shaking so bad I could barely push my foot on the peddle. The lights turned on but we never saw a thing. All I could do was put my car in drive and get tf out of there. Looking back on it I really wish one of us would’ve had our phones out to record but it all happened so fast, that honestly was the last thing on mind.

We ended up parked outside of my friends house and laid there in shock until the sun came up. We went over the whole thing numerous times. Did they want to hurt us? If so, why didn’t they? Was it a prank? At times it felt like trickery but the sound was so out of this world that if it was they must’ve had some kind of equipment. Plus these beings had a presence, a very strong one at that. He even thought we should call the police and report it, we were that scared.

Once morning with no sleep and completely hung over from the adrenaline we drove back to get our things. Truly thinking everything would be gone, to our surprise nothing had been touched. Not the beer, nor the cooler with some food, or our valuables. We walked around and looked for tracks but didn’t see a thing. I still don’t know what to think of it and didn’t begin the Bigfoot rabbit hole until after that night. As cliche as it is, that area is highly known for encounters so we just assumed if it wasn’t people or an animal then it must be real after all. Him and I don’t really talk but the occasional text to remind each other that we survived some truly crazy stuff together. Maybe someday I’ll get him to go on a podcast with me or something. I’m just glad to have had a witness bc it truly is unbelievable until it happens to you. And I’m grateful for my vehicle bc I’m not sure if I’d be here to tell the tale if we would’ve been in my tent. I don’t really know if they would have hurt us, nor do I ever want to chance that again. Let’s just say the woods will never be the same.”

On speaking to the indigenous people of Flores island, the scientist believes that an archaic hominin species could still exist. Earth holds countless scientific wonders yet to be uncovered. While we know there are remote places home to rare, untouched species of plants and animals, what many don’t realize is there may also be an ancient human species still living in isolation. Anthropologist Gregory Forth has speculated that Homo floresiensis, a hominin species thought to be extinct, might still roam the remote island of Flores in Indonesia, according to The Scientist.

Forth’s theory stems from a groundbreaking discovery of small hominin fossils. In 2004, a team led by Mike Morwood, an archaeologist from the University of Wollongong, Australia discovered a diminutive skull in the Liang Bua caves of Flores Island. Considering the small ape-like physique, the Homo floresiensis was labeled ‘Hobbit’ after the fictional characters from J.R.R. Tolkien’s book series. The genesis of these hobbits and their correlation with other hominin species is still being debated. But, when Forth began conducting ethnographic fieldwork on Flores Island he heard from the locals that humanlike creatures, though seemed evasive, were witnessed in the isolated mountain territories of the island. Also, Morwood has made a comment on this folklore saying the people’s description “fitted floresiensis to a T.”

Forth’s research focused on firsthand accounts from the indigenous Lio people, who live in the island’s rugged, remote mountains with little exposure to modern literacy or technology. Forth mentions “To be sure, the Lio don’t have anything akin to modern evolutionary theory, with speciation driven by mutation and natural selection” and adds “But if evolutionism is fundamentally concerned with how different species arose and how differences are maintained, then Lio people and other Flores islanders have for a long time been asking the same questions.” He said that Lio people had a similar classification of animal species as modern systematics and that they distinguish humans from non-human animals not just on morphological aspects but by associating with expressions of culture, language and technology exclusively to humans.

Forth addressed the reliability of the Lio tribe’s accounts, explaining that “For the Lio, the ape-man’s appearance as something incompletely human makes the creature anomalous and hence problematic and disturbing,” and adds “For academic scientists, H. floresiensis is similarly problematic, but not so much for its resemblance to H. sapiens rather, it’s because the species appears very late in the geological record, surviving to a time well after the appearance of modern humans.” Though he acknowledges the fact that some features of the hobbit creatures, which Lio people call ‘ape-men’, might fit an undiscovered species of ape, most of their statements along with the biogeography of Indonesia support the hypothesis that H. floresiensis still exist. Forth spoke to over 30 eyewitnesses whose experiences made him infer that the species did not go extinct 12000 years ago as suggested by the original research.

While archaeologists who excavated the “hobbit” remains classified them as extinct, Forth challenges that assumption. “Our initial instinct, I suspect, is to regard the extant ape-men of Flores as completely imaginary. But, taking seriously what Lio people say, I’ve found no good reason to think so,” and added “What they say about the creatures, supplemented by other sorts of evidence, is fully consistent with a surviving hominin species, or one that only went extinct within the last 100 years.” The anthropologist hopes that other life scientists will integrate this indigenous knowledge while studying the evolution of hominin species in Indonesia and other parts of the world.

Archaeologists working at the temple of Taposiris Magna near Alexandria, Egypt, discovered 16 ancient burial chambers with two golden tongues. These striking tongues were placed in the jawbones of the deceased to help them speak in the afterlife. Other artifacts found included a funeral mask with golden flakes and decorations of Osiris, the Egyptian god of the dead.

Jennifer Houser Wegner, a curator of Egyptian artifacts at the Penn Museum in Philadelphia, shared with The NY Times , “For the Egyptians, gold was a material that had qualities of everlastingness. It was never tarnished. It always shone brilliantly.”

The team also discovered two mummies wrapped in gilded cartonnage, a type of plastered papyrus or linen. Knewz.com noted that one mummy had a crown with horns and a cobra on its forehead. It also had a gilded necklace shaped like a falcon’s head, representing the god Horus. The other mummy was adorned with gilded images of Osiris.

Kathleen Martinez, the lead archaeologist from the University of Santo Domingo, said to The NY Post , “These two mummies were among the most important discoveries from the excavation.” Furthermore, Khaled Abo El Hamd, director general of The Alexandria Antiquities shared, “These masks show high craftsmanship in Sculpture and depiction of the features of its owners.”

During the time of these 2,000-year-old mummies, Egypt was ruled by Greek Macedonians and later Romans. Salima Ikram, a professor of Egyptology at The American University in Cairo, told Live Science in an email, “Mummies with gold tongues were popular during the Greco-Roman period.” This period lasted from 332 B.C. to A.D. 395 when golden tongues and eyes were used in funerary practices.

Furthermore, other gold-tongued mummies have been found in other places in Egypt, such as Oxyrhynchus. Martinex on the discovery mentioned, “That these mummies have golden tongues is fascinating. She further added, “Very little information has remained about the Greco-Roman period in Alexandria. The discoveries we have found in this necropolis are not only extraordinary, but they also indicate that there are more secrets to reveal.”

Other highlights of the excavation included a complete funeral mask of a woman, statues of people buried at the site, and eight marble masks from the Greek and Roman periods. Martinez had led many excavations and found coins with Cleopatra’s image at Taposiris Magna, suggesting that Egyptians used the temples during her reign (51–30 B.C.).

However, the findings did not clearly state the exact period, but researchers believed the mummies were from either the Ptolemaic dynasty (304 B.C. to 30 B.C.) or the early Roman period, starting after Cleopatra died in 30 B.C.

Lorelei H. Corcoran, the director of the Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology at the University of Memphis, mentioned, “The stated goal of the Egyptian-Dominican mission is to find the burial of Cleopatra at Taposiris Magna. Many scholars believe, however, that the burial place of Cleopatra was within a royal burial complex, perhaps associated with the palace district, now lost underwater in the Alexandria harbor.”

The US Sun writes “The mystery surrounding a 3,000-year-old tablet, believed to be the oldest map in the world has finally been solved. The ancient tablet has been deciphered after centuries and offers a glimpse of what Babylonians believed about the known world at the time.

The map called Imago Mundi, showing an aerial view of Mesopotamia that dates back to the 6th century BC has been a mystery for researchers for centuries. The cuneiform tablet was discovered in the Middle East and was acquired by the British Museum in 1882. Experts were finally able to decode it after finding a missing part. The tablet has a series of paragraphs where the author describes the creation of Earth and what it was believed at the time that existed beyond it. The map depicts ancient Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq), surrounded by a double ring dubbed the “Bitter River,” which marked the borders of the known world at the time.

In a video released by the British Museum cuneiform expert Dr. Irving Finkel says: “You have encapsulated in this circular diagram, the whole of the known world in which people lived, flourished and died.

“However, there’s more to this map than that.”

“When it comes to operating beyond the limits of the known world into the world of imagination, [the tablet] is indispensable.” Researchers confirm the circle around Mesopotamia suggests that Babylonians believed the area was the center of the world. There also shows the river Euphrates cutting through ancient Mesopotamia. Finkel added: “This is a very important ring of water because it meant for the Babylonians, they had an idea of the limits of the world where they lived in about the sixth century.” The tablet also confirms the Babylonian’s belief in the God of creation Marduk and other mythical monsters such as scorpion-man and a lion-headed bird called Anzu. The ancient Babylonians had their own version of the Noah’s Arc named Utnapishtim.

“That’s quite a meaty thing, quite an interesting thing to think about because it shows that the story was the same, and of course, that one led to the other,” Finkel said.

Another Babylonian mystery was recently cracked by experts as a tablet containing a code was finally deciphered. The research team successfully decoded the 4,000-year-old text bizarrely about lunar eclipses.

The newly discovered texts reveal that the Babylonians viewed lunar eclipses as terrifying ominous signs of death and destruction.

Who were the Babylonians?

The ancient state of Babylonia was located in the central Mesopotapia (today’s Iraq and parts of Syria and Iran). Babylonia was often involved in rivalry with the state of Assyria in the north of Mesopotamia It became a major power during the reign of Hammurabi, its ruler during 1792–1750 BC. But the Babylonian Empire quickly fell apart after the death of Hammurabi and was turned into a small kingdom around the city of Babylon. It was also home to one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.”

A listener writes “When I was a young girl my dad who was born in the late 1920’s used to tell us kids a story about when he was a young boy. He said he was about 8 years old, and one night he got a visit from what he called the Hairy man. He said it came in his bedroom one night covered all in hair and bent over him in his bed.

He said he was so scared. He said it picked him up and he held his breath. When he did it put him back down. When he took a breath it picked him back up, so he held his breath again, and it put him back down. This happened several times and he held his breath longer it let go and walked out. He never told his parents they wouldn’t have believed him. This happened in his childhood home in Letcher County Kentucky.

Unfortunately my dad has passed many years ago. So fast-forward to the mid 1980’s. I was working in a local police department as a dispatcher in a county next to the one he was raised in. I had recently gone through a divorce and would go to the state park near where I worked and lived. I like to go hike by myself I always carried a pistol with me. This was near the end of July about noon, the sun was shining through the trees I went for my hike an actually forgot to take my pistol that day. I didn’t think much of it and started on my hike I went slightly downhill not far off the path.

I almost stepped on a copperhead I slithered off I was shaky anyway I stopped to catch a breath. I heard a noise on below me so I looked around and peeping out behind a very large pine tree was the Hairy man. I’m sure my eyes were popping out it was reddish brown with almost a blackish undercoat. It was between 7-8 feet tall. I have never been so scared in my life so I started running uphill and reached my car that I had parked on the side of the road. It was like a roaring sound in my ears from fear. I didn’t know if it was after me or not I kept dropping my keys. I finally got the car unlocked, it seemed like it took forever to get it unlocked.

I locked the doors looked around and didn’t see it anymore. I left and drove off. I pulled into the parking lot at work about an hour and a half early, and just sat there trying to calm down. I never told my co-workers about it. But I thought about the story dad told when I was younger. The fear was awful. I have always had this in the back of my mind.”

Neurosurgeons might soon be able to deploy tiny robots into the bodies of human patients to assist with life saving surgeries. Microscopic nanorobots, smaller than a blood cell, have been used in rabbits to successfully deliver a medication to blood vessels damaged by aneurysms.

This scientific breakthrough could well pave the way for stents and coils used today in human brains to become a thing of the past.

The Nanorobots

An aneurysm occurs when the wall of an artery weakens and can no longer handle the rapid coursing of blood it carries. The blood will work against the weak spot and cause the side of the artery to balloon out. At some point, the artery wall will burst from the pressure and will lead to significant brain damage and even death.

The nanorobots used in the rabbits were used to deliver drugs at the point of the aneurysm so that the weakened area would be blocked from blood flow, thus stopping it from bursting.

The tiny life-saving devices measure only 295 nanometers in diameter, three times smaller than the diameter of the most common forms of bacteria. Using a heat seeking technology to locate the aneurysm, the nanorobot parks there until its coating melts and enables the release of the medication.

Thrombin

The medication that the nanorobots dispense is called thrombin. Thrombin will react with the blood cells and make them clot together in order to avoid the artery walls from bursting.

While it’s yet to be tested in humans, the process that medical providers will use to deploy the nanorobots have pretty much been spelled out by researchers that published their findings in the September edition of the medical journal Small.

Surgery

Once an aneurysm has been located, a cardiovascular surgeon will find a spot close to it to release the nanobots in the patient’s bloodstream.

The nanorobots will be injected into the blood vessels using a microcatheter, which lowers risks as this keeps the medical team from having to go too deep into the recipient’s brain.

The beast of seven chutes. One of the most intriguing photos I’ve seen. Is the subject holding a dog? There’s a lot to look at with this photo. This photo of the Beast of Seven Chutes was taken on June 1st, 2005, in the Parc des Sept Chutes in Quebec, Canada. The photo is said to show a cryptid but the exact identity of said cryptid is up for much debate. Some argue this picture shows a Dogman, some say Gugwe and others say Sasquatch. As of right now there are no wrong answers, just hypotheses on the true identity of this bizarre creature.

America Daily writes “Archaeologists have made a groundbreaking discovery at the ancient site of Göbekli Tepe in Turkey. They have uncovered what is believed to be the world’s oldest calendar. Etched into a 12,000-year-old stone pillar, this finding could significantly alter our understanding of early civilization and the history of timekeeping.

The calendar suggests that ancient humans had accurate timekeeping methods 10,000 years before similar systems were documented in Ancient Greece in 150 BC. The carvings also depict what researchers believe is a comet strike that jump-started a mini-ice age which lasted about 1,200 years, completely wiping out large animals and pushing the development of agriculture and complex societies.

Dr. Martin Sweatman of the University of Edinburgh, who led the research, stated: It appears the inhabitants of Göbekli Tepe were keen observers of the sky. This event might have triggered civilization by initiating a new religion and motivating agricultural developments to cope with the cold climate.

Göbekli Tepe, the oldest artificial structure ever found, was constructed between 9,600 and 8,200 BC, predating Stonehenge by over 6,000 years. A recent analysis by researchers at the University of Edinburgh concluded that one of the site’s pillars was carved as a calendar, featuring 365 ‘V’ symbols representing days and 12 lunar months with 11 additional days. The carvings also feature symbols such as a bird holding a circular disc above a scorpion, which could represent the Greek Scorpion constellation, and a tall bird bending towards a wriggling snake, which may have something to do with the autumnal constellation Ophiuchus.

This suggests ancient people recorded dates using the precession of the Earth’s axis, a method previously believed to have been first used by the ancient Greeks in 150 BC. The main discovery centers on the depiction of a catastrophic comet strike. High levels of platinum and nanodiamonds at the site indicate that a comet struck around 13,000 years ago, marking the most considerable comet impact since the event that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. This event is believed to have created agricultural changes and the development of complex societies in the Fertile Crescent, which makes up modern-day Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon.

Additionally, researchers identified a second pillar depicting the Taurid meteor stream, believed to be the source of the comet fragments. This discovery underscores the profound impact of celestial events on the development of early human civilizations.

The implications of this discovery are vast. It could potentially rewrite the timeline of human civilization and our understanding of ancient societies’ sophistication in astronomy and timekeeping. As further research continues, Göbekli Tepe may reveal even more secrets about our distant past and the early developments that shaped human history.”

WASHINGTON, USA — A controversial plan to save one species in Washington state by killing another is set to begin soon. The Proposed Barred Owl Management Strategy developed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is officially being implemented in Washington, Oregon and California.

“If we do nothing, we won’t have spotted owls,” said Bridget Moran, Deputy State Supervisor, USFWS Oregon Office. “If we do something, we will have both.”

According to USFWS – the removal or killing of barred owls, an invasive species, could start as early as this fall, but will have full implementation by next spring. According to the strategy that was based on years of research and studies – about 450,000 barred owls would be shot and killed over three decades. Public hunting of barred owls will be prohibited.

“All removal has to be done by trained removal specialists,” said Robin Bown, leader of barred owl management strategy development. “Where firearms are not allowed or contraindicated – barred owls may be trapped and euthanized.”

Megaphones blaring recorded owl calls would be used to lure barred owls. They will be shot with shotguns and their carcasses would be buried on site.

“We don’t take this lightly,” Moran said. “We have a responsibility to recover the spotted owl, but we’re conservation biologists. So that’s very challenging for us to come to this decision.”

Other conservationists recognize this difficult situation.

“It’s a terrible decision to have to make. No one wants to see the spotted owl go out,” said Greg Costello, former retired executive director of Wildlands Network.

Costello said he disagrees with the USFWS strategy to remove barred owls.

“We’ve made the barred owl the villain here and it’s not. We’re the villain,” Costello said. “We’re the ones who have destroyed all this habitat and we can’t make up for that on the lives of the barred owl.”

Concerns over the spotted owl’s vanishing old-growth forest habitat and invasive species competition date back to 1990 when they were listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

“They’re intelligent. They have emotional feelings. They have social structures. They communicate,” Costello said. “I think it’s high time that we start considering the fact that these are sentient beings we are impacting.”
Ultimately, Costello said killing barred owls will not save spotted owls.

“Barred owls are everywhere in our Northwest forests This isn’t like an island where you can kill off a population and more are not coming in,” Costello said. “Barred owls will move into these areas… just as fast as they’re shot, they’re going to keep coming.”

According to USFWS, the removal strategy would reduce North American barred owl numbers by less than one percent annually.

A menace to the spotted owl's survival

Aside from barred owls killing spotted owls when moving into their territories – USFWS officials said its the barred owl’s diet that not only threatens the spotted owl but other West Coast species.

“The barred owl is much more of a generalist in its diet and so it has the potential to consume a lot more prey species than have naturally adapted to the northern spotted owl in the in the environment here,” said Moran, Deputy State Supervisor, USFWS Oregon Office. “So, it’s not just the spotted owl issue, although, spotted owls are at the greatest risk of extinction.”

The barred owl weighs just under two pounds. It’s about the size of a crow. The spotted owl is slightly smaller.

“We actually identified barred owl competition as a potential threat but of unknown magnitude by 2004,” said Bown, leader of barred owl management strategy development. “A five-year review that we did, barred owls were considered a significant threat.”

Where barred owl removal will happen

Once the killings begin – walkers, runners, cyclists, and hikers will still see barred owls in their places like Seattle City Parks and other larger popular county parks.

Barred owl removal will happen where they’re heavily populated in spotted owl territory like the Olympic Peninsula and sections of the Western and Eastern Washington Cascades.
