Bighorn and Bigfoot on the Blackfoot, Part 4

Duke writes “Jack gets his wish and gets to see a Bigfoot, either turning over rocks for crayfish or trying to catch fish.

It was only It’s hairy back sticking out of the river, it had it’s legs, arms, and part of it’s head in the water, and was oblivious to Jacks approach. and HE thought he was sneaking up on an otter! So thinking he had snuck up on an otter frolicking in the river, he flicks on the flashlight right on it! It only took a second or so for the “otter” to realize something was lighting him up, and he stood up and swiveled at the waist to see where the light was coming from.

Jack, now realizing he has snuck up on something other than an otter, says, as it looks right at him, “I am in the WRONG F@ckin’ place!” and flicks off the light. Jack, frozen in fear, is rooted in place. The Squatch, obviously aware that “that is the tent guy with no weapons”, stares for a couple more seconds, then turns around and goes back to sticking his arms in the river and ignores Jack.

Jack is not certain how long he stood there in shock, but he was shocked again where he heard what sounded similar to a mountain lion scream coming from the top of the bluff across the river. Again, it stood up, and without looking back at Jack, zoomed out of the river and into the timber, apparently heading towards the sound of the scream. This finally broke him lose from the spot he was rooted to, and he climbed back up to camp.”

Ah man, a big mug of scalding coffee, with a couple dollops of “you know what”, a bowl of steaming menudo with warm tortillas, pull on my waders, grab the flyrod, WHAT? bigfoot? WHERE? never mind, think I’ll just sit here by the fire with my “hand cannon” for awhile.
Actually, what a gorgeous area, no wonder ol’ big and stinky hangs out there! Thank you.

“This is the tent guy with no weapons”, not me buddy. Crooked Hillary would have had to be elected to remove my right to be armed. If Bigfoot paid no head to my presence, I don’t think that I would shoot at it- just to shoot. Especially if it looked more man than monster. Regardless of what others think due to my other posts- Tucsonans don’t blow everything in sight away, we only shoot when in fear of loss of life…

When I read the story about Jack mistaking bigfoot for an otter I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair. I’m glad everything turned out well. Don’t think I ever heard an encounter where the bigfoot didn’t take off and went back to what he was doing??? He must have felt no threat by Jack. That was a great, great encounter.
