A listener writes “My wife and I wanted to try some backcountry camping. It was late October so it was chilly and all the leaves were on the ground. We headed to Zaleski State Forest in southern Ohio. Once we got there I locked the truck and we hiked around 8-9 miles in.
We then setup camp. They have places setup for camp with restrooms. We were the only ones there. It got dark early so we started a fire. We heard a few coyotes in the distance and small animals rustling in the leaves. Now it is important to note that you could hear everything in the forest due to the blanket of leaves. The leaves were at least 4 inches deep and crunchy. We retired in the tent for the night. We fell asleep around 9. We woke up in the middle of the night to what sounded like a linebacker sprinting. The weird part is you could distinctly tell it was close and it was only 5 steps. The steps sounded like a sprinting human.
After the 5th step there was nothing. We never heard anything in the distance approaching and we never heard it travel off into the distance. It was right there and then gone. Whatever it was it was big. We both said nothing. We discussed this the next morning and we both heard it. This was one of the scariest moments I have ever had in the forest.”

I had a similar experience. I heard its steps within five feet of my tent. I yelled at it, heard one more step and then it just vanished. It’s incredible that something that large can make its presence evaporate so suddenly.

Working up the momentum to get thru the portal?

Bigfoot does not use portals. The Wood that is spread about these creatures hinders any serious consideration of the real to many.

If Squatch is ape like, it is no great stretch to consider that they may use the trees to get around. Might be how they seem to disappear sometimes, make no noise or leave no prints. Seen plenty of stories where they are in the trees.
In the military I was taught to look above, below and through things, but most of us just look at ground level and don’t consider places we don’t normally go.

They are indeed prolific tree climbers and can move from tree to tree far better than humans, although as adults this tends to slow down.
