A listener writes “I listen to your podcast and finally have the courage to talk about this. I’m not an outspoken person about this incident due to people thinking I’m crazy but I figure now is the time to come out about it. My Three other friends who this happened to are still scarred until this day and refuse to speak on it.
So here’s what happened at Cuyahoga Valley national park. I was camping with some friends. There was 4 of us going up there to camp / hike and enjoy the outdoors. This happened sometime in July or August of 2019 but I can’t remember exactly what day it happened. Just as we set up camp we had the bright idea to go hiking. This was right about 7-8 pm at night when the park was closed but there was still daylight out.
We started hiking near the Cuyahoga river on the towpath trail. We were hiking for a good half or so down this path and all of a sudden we had something throwing sticks that slowly progressed to rocks at us. At first we thought it was teens playing tricks on us but the longer it progressed we started to smell something pungent and our hair stood straight up.
By this time the sun had gone completely dark and all we had was our phone lights to guide us. We all started running back to camp as quick as we could but whatever was tracking us was faster bigger and stronger. We eventually got winded then it all stopped. Dead silent the woods were extremely quiet and still and very eerie. Suddenly we heard the loudest growl we ever heard sort of like an angry wolf / bear.
A friend of mine who had a firearm on him shined the weapon mounted light into the tree line where we were and we all caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a giant man / humanoid around 7.5 feet tall and as shown as the light shined on it it retreated backwards and never to be seen again. We then gathered our breathe and ran back to the camp as quick as we could and got into our tents.
As we slept we heard multiple loud sounds outside our tent and sticks breaking. In the morning when we woke up our camp was destroyed and a pile of rocks was stacked up by the fire pit. We all agreed to never camp there again.”

Wow that’s so terrifying. No way would I’ve stayed the night there in a tent after that. Not in a million years lol

thanks for sharing. I grew up in that neck of the woods. I had a sighting in 1978 in northeast Ohio too. something outside your tent is one of the scariest things to experience.

Thanks for sharing. I’d love to know the campsite. I was born and raised nearby. FYI, there have been sightings and OH howls from there as well.

Even though the I-271 and I-80 cut through the middle of this park and it is smack dab in the middle of the Cleveland to Akron metroplis, I have heard and read a number of sightings and encounters is this park over the years which goes to show the Bigfoots can be darn near anywhere in North American. Uust give them a river/creeks to travel. It destroyed the camp but stacked rocks, now that is weird and thanks for coming forth. When I was a teenager, the Cuyohoga River caught fire in June of 1969 (It caught fire numerous times since the late 1870s) and Lake Erie was essentially given up for dead, all due to industrial waste. This was the impetus for the Federal Gov/t to pass the Clean Air and Water Act, I think in 1972. Now the river is good and Lake Erie is a world class Walley fishery.

Charles, have you ever had any experiences in the valley? I’ve heard strange sounds, found some debatable prints, and one of coolest tree structures. I’m no longer local, but return 3 times a year. I’d love to chat sometime.

Hi Toomuch. I have not as I have not hiked this area. I have only seen and marveled at it while crossing over on the I-271 and I-80 numerous times in my businesses. I live in Darke County, OH NE of Dayton. However I have hiked and researched the Salt Fork Lake area a decade ago, and I too found by going off trail some fantastic structures. We have our encounters and such over where I live from time to time, but nothing like SE and Eastern, and NE Ohio does.

Charles, thanks for replying. Just looking for some local like minded people. I’be never been out to the Dayton area, but have heard a few stories out that way. I’ve seen and heard some strange things at Salt Fork maybe 15 years ago. I’m sure the hairy man still roams around that area. But it’s just too packed nowadays with knuckleheads banging on trees and call blasting.
