“I don’t care of you believe me or not” was the serious, straightforward introduction I was given to a possible wolfman sighting in the autumn of 2013. It was at this point that my long-time friend Andrew* told me of not just one encounter, but two separate encounters with more than one strange, bipedal creatures out hunting game near Norton, Ohio.

A heavily-wooded section of Chippewa Loop Trail in Silver Creek Metro Park.
Andrew normally works night shifts, which means traveling quiet, darkened roads is an everyday occurrence for him. One cold autumn night in particular, while traveling down Johnson Road bordering Silver Creek Metro Park, what he saw was anything but routine. Approximately 50 yards from the intersection with Medina Line Road, he stopped his car when two deer raced across the road heading south. But what caught his attention was what they were running from.
“I would place them somewhere between 6’6″ and 7′ tall. They chased the two deer (which were both smaller, by the way) out across the street and into the woods. They ran [in formation]… one in front, two behind, kind of next to each other. They were roughly 30-40 yards behind the deer. They were bipedal, very muscular, and fast. Lightning fast. It all happened in just a few seconds. I couldn’t describe any features, unfortunately; I’m assuming it was either a new moon or cloudy because it was very dark, but they were definitely a dark color… maybe a chocolate-brown or a black color.”
I pressed him for any more detail. After all, there have been Bigfoot sightings in Ohio. “They say that Bigfoot has long arms that swing when it runs, and it runs like a human. Whatever these were, they weren’t Bigfoot. I can’t describe how they moved, but they didn’t move like a person.”
Less than a month later, Andrew was heading home on Johnson Road. As he passed a moonlit cornfield, something ran in front of his car.
“The fields had full-grown cornstalks, but I don’t know exact heights only that the cornstalks were taller than me by a head and I’m 6 feet tall. This time, [my sighting of two creatures] was a quick flash because there was no open land to it. They basically leapt the road as they broke the corn and landed about 10-15 feet into the field on the other side and kept running. This time, the pair that I saw in the moonlight, the first was black and the second was black with white or silver on its chest and back…. Since the first three I saw were all a solid color, that means there must be at least four different creatures.”

The exact locations of the two 2013 sightings (orange dots) plotted on a map
On October 11, 2014, I set out with Andrew and his wife to see what we could find in the way of evidence that whatever he saw might still be around. The location of the first sighting is bordered to the south by Silver Creek Metro Park. On the other side of the road, there are three or four houses with a large field behind them. As Andrew pointed out, the creatures passed through the field and past the houses on the night he saw them, meaning these creatures must not have much fear of being near human habitation. The second sighting was on a slight hill between two large fields in a rather remote area. Not only were both places quite close to each other, they are both in close proximity to Silver Creek.
We had planned an investigation of Silver Creek Metro Park, arriving at dusk, but the reservoir lake and surrounding park was alive with bonfires and hundreds of people celebrating the second annual Fall Family Outing making any chance of searching for wolfman-like creatures too difficult. A follow-up trip is still slated for (hopefully) this winter.
Other witnesses may exist, but their reluctance to go public is understandable. If you saw large dark creatures running on two feet, you too might think people would call you crazy. But there is an earlier account worth mentioning here which may give more credence to these sightings. In Linda Godfrey‘s book Real Wolfmen, there’s a 2010 story titled “The Persistent Chicken Thief” (p. 262-7) about a family put in contact with Godfrey after several incidents on their farm. Their son Drew was one witness to a large, dark creature over six feet tall lurking in the treeline in March:
The lone rooster began to squawk and the creature let out a fierce growl, then all went silent. Drew heard what sounded like something jumping back over the fence, and the rooster squealed as if in pain. At that point, Drew grabbed a gun and flashlight and ran outside, searching the fence from the front porch with his light. He saw the rooster but it appeared to have something dark over its middle. It slowly dawned on Drew that the “something dark” was the muzzle of a creature with two glaring eyes.
“Whatever it was,” he said, “it seemed to look through me. It turned my blood cold and I was paralyzed with fear. I’m a hunter… I’m used to being in the wilderness and encountering bigger animals. Those animals don’t scare me like this thing did… When I encountered this thing the first time, I got the feeling that it wanted to hurt me. After researching something I’ve never believed in, I’m convinced that this thing is a dogman.”
Loud howls and the sound of something walking on two legs in the gravel driveway plagued the family for many months. The family kept a detailed diary of their strange events, but unfortunately Godfrey has since lost contact with them. While the exact location of the farm is not known, it is in the vicinity of Norton, Ohio.
In May 2010, Kristen Miller of Wadsworth reported seeing “a large cat with a long tail” resembling a mountain lion at dusk in Silver Creek Metro Park and reported it to park officials. There have also been reports of black bears in the area, though neither of these creatures can run on two feet, nor do they come close to being ix to seven feet tall.
Silver Creek is a tributary for the aptly named Wolf Creek. Long ago, Timber Wolves were common across Ohio, though as farming developed among early settlers, these furry canines became less of an accepted part of the wilderness and more of a nuisance as the animals hunted and killed many sheep. Thousands of Ohio wolves were hunted, trapped, and poisoned in an effort to eradicate them from the area. 1842 marked the final killing of a wolf in Ohio and the end of the wolf’s presence here. While wolves have been driven from Ohio, perhaps something far more frightening has replaced them. The mystery of the Silver Creek Wolfmen is far from solved.

I’ve been to this park a couple of times and am very familiar with this area. Just not a lot of places for these creatures to stay hidden around there. Could almost classify area as being suburban and fairly populated. Hard to believe a group of creatures making a living out of that park. It’s an area with no big tracks of forest in the vicinity, but I guess it’s not impossible. I’m gonna do some looking myself since I live only 30 mi from there.
Debbie C
Dave T,
perhaps those creatures live under ground?
Dave T
No caves in the area I’ve ever heard of. Anything living underground has to have a way in and out and a creature that big would need big opening. Someone would find it at some point. I’m gonna look into it, only bad thing is I can’t carry by 12 guage through the park plus I think it closes at a certain time for the night.
Debbie C
Dave T,
Well, I’m only guessing, I don’t think every square inch of that
area has been researched and identified.
Underground hiding places don’t always have an exit point from entry.
Some go extremely deep into the earth and stop.
These creatures are hiding/living somewhere.
Do you really want to locate their living quarters?
Does anyone for that matter?
It would be as if locating the gates of hell it’s self.
Dave T
Debbie C. The other thing I can’t get around is tracks. If those creatures are there in that park they would have to leave many tracks especially in the snow. We usually have snow on the ground from late December through the beginning of March give or take on both ends. This area receives a fair amount of hunting pressure and it’s hard to think their tracks wouldn’t be discovered by hunters or just people in general. Unless these things hibernate, they have to hunt in the winter to survive which would make them vulnerable to discovery. My guess is they pass through the area and don’t stay too long. This witness having two sightings himself is amazing unless there’s a lot of locals not talking.
Joel M
Dave T, if you can’t carry your 12 gauge……DONT GO
Dave T
It’s not a big deal in the daylight Joel. That park isn’t the Congo. I’m very comfortable in the woods especially in the daytime. If we were a regular staple in the BF/Dogman diet, I’d already be a pile of poo.

Looks like they are taking a selfie to me, due to the standing ones left hand out of the pic and the right almost appearing to giving a thumbs up. So I can see this pic on fb saying, Rex Growl with Ralph Bark, “Hey peeps, just passing through the woods with bud Ralph last night.”

I think these dogmen sightings are not bigfoot types like so many people think. I think they are hybrids (just like BF) but the mixture includes wolf. They are just as evil as BF, if not more based on their aggressiveness. I live 40 miles from Bray Rd. in Elkhorn, WI where dogman sightings lead to a book about that area and the sightings. It is a semi rural area with Elkhorn being a fairly small town with a Main St. I have driven around looking for it but to be frank, never ventured out of my car, especially at night. I fear these things more than BF, that’s for sure. Just like BF, I believe there is an evil bent to these creatures.

Great story.

I think there is possibly more than one type of these Dogman creatures because the description vary quite a bit. Some have canine legs, some have regular type legs, some are massive and muscular n others not much bigger than a man. These dogmen are extremely aggressive and seem to size up any animal they see including humans. I honestly don’t believe these beasts have any fear of anythings. N I have heard and read that these Dogmen are really the only thing that Sasquatch really fear. Which says quite a bit if you think about it. These animals seem to have a one tracked mind and tunnel vision on only one thing…… their next meal. They don’t really have the size of a sasquatch but their ferocious behavior more than makes up for it. I’ve also heard when you look in a sasquatch’s eyes you can see that they have intelligence but when you look into a dogman’s eyes you feel like you’re the prey. A very wild very dangerous very capable animal

Whats up Dave T,
I had been corresponding with Joedy Cook a couple years ago about a particular dogman account in the Norton area. He talked about how a horse was found with serious gash marks on its side. The owner supposedly saw an upright wolf walking along his fence line. Also, Joedy mentioned of dogman sightings in a certain metro park in Akron. But he would not divulge his information. Joedy stopped replying to me after I pinpointed out Silver Creek Metro Park. I’m not saying that this is gospel, but there are pieces coming together.
I graduated from Copley, and will be heading up to my home in a month. I will checking out the area as well when I get the chance.
Dave T
Hey too much, that area is my backyard so I know the area very well. If there’s some big critters like that around, the best place for them is in the cuyahoga valley national park. There’s usually a BF sighting or two around there every year. It’s got the highest deer density per square mile than anywhere in the state. I went to Mt Orab, OH last week checking out that area. Lots of reports from there and it looks like a great area. Mostly private land so hard to find areas for boots on the ground. If you get anymore info on dog an in Norton area, try and find me on here and give me the heads up. I wish I could give you my email but don’t feel comfortable putting it out here.
Debbie C
I wonder if bigfoot-sasquatch and dogmen get along with each other?
Great post’s and comments.

That is exactly what I have been leaning heavy upon Debbie C. that these creatures are most likely ‘semi – subterranean. That they dig – into the ground, and this very well could be why many of the missing, (411 – Missing ◄►people]) seem to have just vanish into thin air, perhaps they have been taken to underground dens,to remote hard to see caves, old abandoned mine-shafts, and subterranean Cavers. As well of them utilizing caves. I have read very little upon ‘Dogman’ / ‘Bi – Pedal – Wolf Creatures abode / den. (-there have been reports of Dogman and of Sasquatch disappearing. And as Wes, had hypothesized, the creatures can bound / Jump to incredible distances (abet those massive thigh muscles reported upon Sasquatch as well as Dogmen / Bi – Pedal – wolf creatures. That could very well put themselves up into the trees, or into the thickets, or behind a creature created surface structure of dead trees, that could be the entrance of a very well hidden, semi – substructure? Because ‘of them blipping out into a portal and exiting this realm into another unseen, (which has been hypothesized a few times on other form). I have heard a case when a Sasquatch popped his head up out of an open hole at the top of its den in Alaska. And of Sasquatch (Dog-Squatch) digging out the earth within a den in the Oregon Cascade Range, after it had dragged dead –fall trees through the mud of a mountainside / valley meadow. They are going somewhere or hunters and forestry workers and mushroom pickers and loggers would be tripping upon them.

Papa-Yeti,
Well, I’m only guessing, I don’t think every square inch of that

Underground hiding places don’t always have an exit point from entry.
Some go extremely deep into the earth and stop.
These creatures seem to know how to camouflage their dens.
Cyanines love to dig holes.
In part I do agree with you.

Wow! Some great sightings revealed here after a very interesting encounter!! Thanks for the posts everyone!!!

Dave T and everyone else,
Take a look at this print on Dogman Encounters Facebook pg photos. Joedy Cook sent me this pic a year before Vic came out with his podcast. This pic and that drawing are SUPPOSEDLY from this very same park. It really looks like a human print with claws. Again, take it with a grain of salt because Joedy flaked out on me when I was putting clues together.
I agree about the Cuyohoga Valley. My family is less than 5 miles from the park. In fact, I graduated with one of owners of Szalay’s Farm market. She always makes fun of me when I bring up sightings.
I will be home for about a month (late June-late July). I’m always looking for someone to do research with…. or fishing of course.
See yah!

Too much, Interesting pic, I think it might be a deer track on the top of a human track. Deer are notorious for walking in the same tracks of anything else in the snow. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen them follow human foot prints including mine in the snow. What makes me think it’s a deer print is because it shows mud in the part of the deer print and the rest of the impression doesn’t. Deer will sink a little deeper in the snow than a person because our foot is bigger of course and displaces more of our weight. It would be nice to have pics of the track line with more prints. That would definately help the argument because the deer isn’t going to step in the same spot to make that same print over and over. That’s funny about the Szalays girl. They have no idea there’s a very good chance their corn fields are getting raided by Squatches in the summer. They blame all the crop loss on coons and deer. They do have great sweet corn but it ain’t cheap.

I did a little research and figured out that sighting number 2 happened at or very near some power lines which is interesting because most bigfooters know these creatures are known for using these as pathways. If the first sighting happened where the witness said it did, the creatures had to of run right between some houses. Imagine walking out your front door and surprise! Wolfpack coming through.
Carol Germer
Dog men encounters seem to be more vicious than sasquatsgh.

I live like 5 miles from there. This is a “community park” type of park. Small town Ohio, but more suburb than highly rural.. Tons of deer, and lots of people and houses in the area along with frequent traffic. Any creatures in this area would have to be VERY comfortable around humans and probably passing through rather than living in this immediate area. Lots of creeks and scrubby areas to bed down in for a night though.
*shrug*
not the area I’d choose if I were elusive…people and people noise are constant around here.
wolfheathen
And yeah….Silver Creek park closes at 11pm. I run there after dark sometimes. Nice park! =)

Oooh Wolfheathen, better bring some Milk Bones on your next run! Who’s a gooood doggie? Are you a good boy….????

It is my strong belief that these creatures utilize lava tubes, subterranean caverns, caves and their connecting passageways, as well that they are living within the vast many long abandoned mines of the Spanish miners and into the Victorian era, many mines, there are thousands of abandoned mines, littering the south eastern and southwestern and northwestern states.
-I had done research upon caves systems and caverns, there are many, I found it rather interesting as at the time I was searching for caves systems and caverns when I had listened to David Paulides speaking upon the Denis Martin 411 Case upon Coast to Coast. That is when I read comments about there not being caves in that region. There are, I found it also interesting that the caverns and caves seemed to follow a direction from the Appellations and in many states in a path leading right to the North Eastern Texas through the ‘Hot Spot’ where Bob Garret and Wes, Woody, and Shannon Legro traveled to and had a lot of Activity/ The big question remains as “Are these underground passages connecting in part or all. And are the sasquatch / dogman (Bi – petal – wolves utilizing these underground passages for shelter and routes of travel? The caves and caverns are sparce but they do when mapped show there could be a route of travel. But I have not research into it further to know those answers. Also I believe when they are in regions / areas where there is a lot of human activity, they utilize the trees, moving about through the tree canapés and are traveling at night. Here is what I have pertaining to the Denis Martin Abduction case.
Papa - Yeti
►It was at cades cove, where the Keys family observed a fast moving Sasquatch carrying something/ {Little Denis Martin?}back to cades cove, six miles east northeast is the Denis Martin Abduction site at ‘Spence Field’. There are cavern complexes and underground lakes and underground rivers and waterfalls all within an eight miles radius from cades cove ‘cave’. ‘Forbidden Cavers’ is a underground cavern with stalactites, stalagmites and a flowing underground river, at this location which is twenty miles northeast, from the Cades Cove Cave location where the Keys observed a Sasquatch darting from tree to tree, as it attempted in hiding from their view as it rushed past carrying something (Denis Martin) slung over its shoulder. Just 12 to 13 miles west of Cades Cove, are ‘Tucaleechee Caverns’ with (Cherokee) Trail of Tears underground waterfall – Truckaleechee Caverns are some pretty impressive Open cathedral chambers, with the waterfall raining down and cascading off the sandstone rock formations. Some of the caverns and caves have been made into tourist attractions, with colored floodlighting, and wooden walk ways. However that does not mean that Sasquatch and Dogmen avoid them, as it was at Oregon caves that a family [that had relocated from Alaska and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon] were stalked by a Sasquatch, the Father left the path and stepped into the woods and observed the Sasquatch watching his wife and children. That is a well documented case.
