Unexplained Mysteries writes “What are they? Have the mysterious Hessdalen lights returned? We take a look at the mysterious Hessdalen lights that have recently been seen.
Hessdalen is a small valley that can be found in Norway. At the beginning of the 1980’s, many people came forward about seeing mysterious lights. The local residents couldn’t explain where they were coming from. It wasn’t just one or two lights being witnessed either, it’s been reported that over 200 lights was seen within a week. People started to want answers for what was being seen and Project Hessdalen was established in the summer of 1983.

Investigations were carried out between January the 21st and February the 26th 1984. Incredible 60 lights were seen during these investigations but one of the issues was that one had any idea where they were coming from. Since the 1980’s the lights have become less frequent, instead of their being 50 to 60 reports a week, there’s now around 15 to 25 repots a year.”

For those not familiar with this phenomenon, here is a good link. It is one of the rare occasions where an established university became involved with researching these weird things. A LOT of good scientific research has been done, and I believe is still going on (?). Unfortunately, no firm answers have been proposed for what they are.
