A listener writes “Hello Wes, I want to first let you know I’m a big fan of your show. I’ve been listening for the past couple of months now as it helps me kind of comprehend what happened to me in Sept of 2015.
A little bit about myself I’m a city kid from Detroit and never put much thought in the existence of bigfoot and up until I enlisted in the Army National Guard I didn’t have much outdoor experience.
To make my story short while on military buddy and I were training for Army course we came across a sasquatch in up state Michigan. The bigfoot was very close maybe 15 to 20 feet away. He was watching us as we were rucking on a trail in the Manistee state forest. I first noticed him while I stopped to take brief drink of water from my camelpack. I would’ve never noticed it if I didn’t see it blink and huff. (That’s how close I was) it was squatting behind a tree stump. I stood there to try and make out what I was looking at. That’s when it stood up and walked back into the woods. My buddy saw the creature as well when it walked back into the woods. The encounter has had an lasting impact on me.
Thanks for reading my rant and keep up the good work with the show. A lot of people are out there that need help talking about there experience they’ve had with Bigfoot as it is life altering. Thanks for being that platform that we all can use to get these encounter off our chests.”

pretty soon Wes, you are going to have to answer the call, as
National Sasquatch Reporter! lol
The news stations are finally taking note of some reports whether it be by court actions or local accounts.
This person has voiced their gratitude for ” a platform ” for experiencers to openly discuss the physical and emotional stuff that follows . Haven’t we all benefitted from that!
Scott B
Well said! I agree
Gene P
Right on Purple Pam. Wes will be able to write a book on all he has learned about the Sasquatch too.

I’m from Detroit & now live in mid Michigan ..about two hours south of a lot of sightings that have been on the blog lately. As we camp throughout the summer all over Michigan , you can imagine my interest & concern at hearing these stories. ????
Charles R
I too am from Mid Michigan Amy D, I grew up in Midland. I am convinced that what i call the Manistee National Forest on the West side to the Huron National Forest on the East Side of the state is a corridor for the Sasquatch. There is timber forest and several large rivers throughout this area, and reports just keep coming in.
Amy D
Hey Charles R,,,,we have various camping trips planned this summer arond the State… any tips you can give me to keep us safe ,,,that includes my little 5 lbs. chihuahua that I never let let wander away from me..
Gumshoguy
Wes ask this guy which county this occurred in. Manistee is a large forest covering parts of Lake, Newaygo, Wexford, Manistee, Mason, Oceana, Muskegon, Mecosta, and Montcalm counties, which county did this guy’s incidet occur? I am also a Michigander from southeast parts with a friend up in Cadilac, Michigan which is a rock’s throw from the Manistee. He often calls and tells of active reports in his area and one which BFRO reported.
Amy D
We camped in Cadillac last summer at Mitchell State Park. We took long drives in the area & I couldn’t believe how rural , dense and thickly forested the area is. I can also tell you , I’ve never felt more uncomfortable camping & exploring anywhere like I did last summer in that area.
Amy H
I hope we get to hear this story…. 10-15 feet away, yikes.
Amy D
I’m so excited this is an upcoming show!!!

Sounds great! Thanks Wes!

There are a LOT of sightings in the upper Midwest, but the ridicule factor is high, so very few people will report or talk about them. I had 2 class A’s sightings in Minnesota, and the guest on my latest show, Big D, is certain there have been hundreds of encounters, just in Michigan, going all the way back to the war of 1812 and further!
Amy D
Yes Duke .. I get laughed at all the time for my beliefs in Sasquatch ….but I’ve heard things & smelled things in the Michigan woods that were very suspect and after listening to S.C. I now know what that was. I have asked my husband to not mention it to our friends anymore because I’m tired of being laughed at.
Linda P
Duke is correct, I live in Midland county Mi and yes the ridicule is high here..also you are not going to get anything from the DNR they wont even tell people about bears in the local parks unless you directly ask them
Gumshoguy
A couple questions here. Charles is this your Michigan account? If so, what county are you referring to here? Secondly, you mentioned mid-Michigan – are you familiar with any of these names Ernie, Phil, Bob, Tony? Phil keeps score of a about half dozen counties up there in mid-state around Ogemaw and Bob, he does his thing with the Michigan BF website.
Duke, my wife has ties to Minnesota through relatives on her side of the family and some who have stayed here at our place a few weeks while vacationing. I need to take her there.
I have created a created a Michigan BF database containing over 1,200 incidents and reports with a couple dating back before the 1812, to the time of early missionaries and fur traders were playing the waterways and exploring new frontiers.
Anyone sharing their their encounters would greatly help the cause if they would kindly include the County, Year, Month or their best estimate of time and location.

Gumshoeguy – I love what you’re doing. From what sources do you gather the information? Is it something we could learn to do?
Gumshoguy
I meet and greet people Barbara, I network with people and beyond that I read and research like a prospect miner but my interest is data not precious metals. Thanks for asking.
Sid N
Hey Wes, if Gumshoeguy would be willing to come on the show, discussing some of the accounts from his database, could be the makings of a good show. I’d especially like hearing the older accounts. Thanks much! Good show!
