Seals are much easier prey, with a far greater reward for the effort. Dangerous encounters with humans are rare, but when hungry enough, polar bears will indeed attack and eat humans. As more polar ice permanently melts, the number of these encounters is expected to increase.
Smell range
Polar bears can smell prey from up to 32 kilometers (20 miles) away. They can also smell seals breathing holes in the ice from almost 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) away.
Sense of smell
Polar bears have a highly developed sense of smell that’s their most important sense for finding prey on land. Their sense of smell is over 2,000 times better than a dog’s, even though their brains are two-thirds smaller.
Hunting
Polar bears use their sense of smell to track down their prey, which is primarily seals. They can sense prey through three feet of snow and ice.

Polar Bears are cute in Coke commercials but not in real life. They are killing machines. There are new hybrids called Grolar Bears which are a mix of Grizzly and Polar. Very terrifying.

That’s what I tell my wife while she’s going “Oh, how adorable!” while watching those Coke ads. Of course, she doesn’t care, and still thinks they’re adorable, lol.

I would rather be surrounded by a Klan of Bigfoots, then I would on single Polar Bear.
