A Wendigo is said to be a mythological creature of sorts, whose form, motives, and behaviors differ throughout a variety of cultures and folklore.
The Wendigo has been depicted as a malevolent spirit as well as an enchanting beast and is normally based on legends from the forests of Canada or the Great Lakes region.
The creature normally possesses some form of human characteristics with the ability to possess humans and turn them feral with an overwhelming hunger for raw meat.

In other pockets of pop culture, the Wendigo has also been represented to look similar to a werewolf, but most Wendigos possess horns or antlers.
A listener writes “I was riding back to campus on route 9 from applebee’s in Keene, NH with my friends at about 12:15 in the morning. We had kinda gotten lost because it was hard to tell where we were in the dark. We were looking for a left turn and thought we had found it. We drove down the road for 2 minutes when our headlights lit up this thing. It was pale. It had digitigrade legs. The legs were not muscular at all. They looked like bones that had been shrink wrapped in skin. I don’t remember what the feet looked like. Moving up, its belly was distended, like someone who was extremely malnourished. Its rib cage was visible. The head looked like a deer skull covered in skin. It did have antlers, but they looked like a spike buck’s. What I mean by spike buck is a very young buck who’s antlers have just started forming. It didn’t look like it had eyes, but I could tell that it was looking at us. The entire encounter probably lasted less than 5 seconds before we sped off in reverse.”
