A listener writes “This past weekend I was night hunting with a thermal AR and was playing predator calls to attract the coyotes and had multiple howls responding to my calls but I was able to capture one I think it’s a coyote but I am not certain there are 4 howls in the recording I got I cleaned it up as best I could on my phone.
I had been screen recording a sound analyzer and had it recording my phone microphone as well attached are the original and the cleaned up version this was recorded in mason county, MI about 10 miles north of walhalla on my family’s property.
Never saw what made it as it was over the hill and out of sight from the deer blind I was in
Only other thing weird that has happened was about 7 years ago my grandmother and me got growled at by something that we could feel in our chest never saw anything but whatever it was scared the hell out of us walking to the deer blind.

It’s amazing how listening to these recordings (over the years on SC) and remembering hearing the same type sounds as a small child. It was so disturbing I’d go try to wake my dad on various nights of the howling (s) , but he wouldn’t buy it and say, it’s coyotes, go back to bed. I’d go back to my room and stand there for a while listening out the open, screened window facing the swamp passed our back yard. To me, it sounded like ghosts. That’s why as a little kid I believed in ghosts because I heard them, almost every night. . Anyway, good recordings. Thank you for sharing this. _m

PS~ What I heard sounded like the one cleaned up. Very loud and scary. The reason no one else heard it is because (I assume) the attic fan was running, and the screaming was late at night. I am a light sleeper, and seldom fall to sleep before anyone else in the family. My mother called me a ghost because she said I prowled around at night. Really, I get hot and can’t breath. I had asthma and allergies, and was very nearer sighted. No one knew this at the time, but all that circulating air made me need to try to get air at the window. There’s no telling how long these sessions of howling had been going one out there.

we have 4 cellular trail cameras running 24\7
and had not seen a deer for about 2 weeks until today , 2 walked past a camera but it being dead silent and no activity like this is very unusual for our property especially this time of year. there’s always birds or squirrels making noise and running around but it was a weirdly quiet the last 2 weeks
