Watch: The Elusive Skunk Ape

Editors note> I cringe a little bit when researchers use the term “expert” but maybe he was joking.

David Shealy was recently featured on Fox 4 in Florida talking about the elusive beast and the evidence he’s collected over the years.

That introductory dialogue sounds as though it was written or rehearsed in advance. I’m sure that’s how they wanted to introduce him, though I wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility that this guy genuinely believes himself to be an “expert,” absurd as it sounds.

Florida’s population of “experts” doubles between the months of November thru April. When they go back north, they return to being normal people. They usually don’t carry their credentials. I know this because I am an expert. You can usually tell by their gigantic “blue blocker” sunglasses, knee high socks with Velcro shoes and the distinct smell of prescription Ben Gay. And, yes, I know this because I am an expert.

This is actually the first report on sasquatch that Fox News has done that isn’t either obnoxious, extremely passive aggressive or just down right insulting. This reporter actually showed quite a bit of professionalism and honestly that’s how these kind of news stories should be handled. It’s good to know that there are reporters out there that handle their job professionally and objectively

I agree with Tyler D. This makes two reports recently that have had a mostly serious reporter so maybe there is hope. I think he pretty knowledgeable, too because I’ve seen previous things on him and many people report sightings to him and call on him for advice – “expert” maybe not, but he knows stuff.

This guy is has been around “the glades” for years and is partly why I never took BF too seriously. I remember seeing him years ago talking about how BF loved Lima beans and leaving a trail of said beans would “lure them in”. Whatever. Maybe they do love Lima beans, but Shealy always struck me as a side-of-the-road, tourist-trap kinda guy and a bit of a nut, not an “expert”. But what do I know? And if that photo is real, I must admit, it’s pretty good!

The most amazing research being done right now in south Florida is being done by a guy named Mark Zaskey. Mark and his crew have located sectors that are swimming in what they have dubbed them as “Bush Indians” . Their site is called Crypto Reality and if anybody wants to see what these creatures look like go to their site, they HAVE an adolescent on film for all to see and are in the process of making a movie. These Palm Beach County Wildmen are anything BUT “skunkapes” they are human primates and are very curious. Ihave sent Wes info about them but I have yet to get any responses back from the site here’s owner-on pretty much anything.

Could not agree with you more. I have had the privilege to talk with Mark in depth on what he is doing down there. He is a wealth of knowledge on the subject and, you couldnt find a nicer guy if you tried.

I lived in central Florida from 1967-1996 and David Shealy has been involved with the Skunk Ape down in Ochopee as long as I can remember. I don’t think he has any kind of formal biological education, but he has been talking about them for what seems like forever. So when he says he is the skunk ape expert, it doesn’t really bother me too bad.
