Bob Gemlin is a man of integrity who was short changed by Mr. Patterson but at the end of the day I think we all know who the better person was (is). All in the BF world should be inspired by this man. Thx Wes for posting this.

He has really had a life, hasn’t he? I so hope he is enjoying himself now after all the trials he’s been through because of this. Just a really good man. Love hearing him speak about Patty, but I bet he could tell us more about that country it’s critters that would be just as entertaining; he’s just that good of a speaker.

I had the pleasure to meet Bob in spring of 2014 at Salt Fork Lake. He signed a 8 x 10 glossy print for me of Patty during her turn. Wonderful pic and quite detailed. Anyway he was sitting when I met him. I asked him how much distance did Patty cover during the filming. I will never forget this. He sprang to his feet to shake my hand and his eyes sparkled and his voice became excited as he explained to me all in all it was about 58 or 59 seconds due to the time it took for Roger to get set up and film the 29 seconds. He said it covered 200 yards during this time.
Later that night at home I did the math. The walking speed although seemingly hurried was natural and very fluid and comfortable for her. She was going 7.07 mph at this rate. Myself having been on treadmills once I reach a speed of above 4mph my pace is fast and at 5 mph I am in a jog. The only humans that can walk 7mph are the Olympic Speed Walkers and if you watch a video of them you would swear they are running, not walking and it is very unnatural and the body is swaying side to side.

It is no wonder people who see witness these creatures for any period of time usually note how darn fast they are when taking off or if just walking how much ground they cover in a seemingly effortless manner.
