Was Goliath A Nephilim?

Legends of History writes “The biblical story of David and Goliath is one of the most famous tales found in the story of the Old Testament. The narrative reflects our own individual struggle throughout life, not just necessarily from a religious point of view, but in a more human sense.

We all have challenges to overcome and sometimes those challenges may dwarf us and seem impossible to defeat. Because of this, many are able to resonate with David – the poor shepherd boy who, equipped with just a sling and a stone, was able to successfully slay the giant Goliath and overcome his personal challenge in what was probably one of the biggest upsets in the valley of the Philistines.

So taken are we by the courage, resolve and faith of David and how it might apply to us, that often, we might overlook the actual villain of which he deposed. Goliath.”

I know that Biblical texts mention a size of the giants, but I have never been convinced that giant is meant as a huge person/creature. It could just be similar to how we refer to “giants of the industry.” But it may be true. But mostly, I think some are confused about “giants” existing before and after.

The KJV Bible that most people use says “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”

The 14th Century Wycliffe Bible reads, “Soothly (In truth) giants were on the earth in those days, forsooth after that the sons of God entered [in] to the daughters of men, and those daughters begat; these were mighty of the world and famous men.”

With that punctuation, it seems to say giants existed in those days and then after they “had children” with human women (such as Eve), those children became the “mighty men.”

Because in the Tyndale Bible from 1530, the verse reads, ” There were TYRANTS in the world in those days. For after that, the children of God had gone in unto the daughters of men and had begotten them children, the same children were the mightiest of the world and men of renown”

The 4th Century B.C Torah reads, “The NEPHILIM were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.”

I take that to mean the Fallen Angels are the Nephilim, and again, the “mighty men” were the children of the Nephilim.
