Upcoming Show: This was not a bear

I am working on some behind the scenes video for members as well. I will be interviewing Mark and Mark writes “Hello Wes. I live in Southeast Idaho right in the corner of the state where Idaho, Utah and Wyoming come together. I live in a Mountain Valley near a very large lake.

I work as a miner in an open pit operation near the Idaho/ Wyoming border. Very high in the mountains. We mine phosphate and when we are on an ore haul the one way trip is about 9 miles. Up and down mountains to the valley floor. Very heavy timber on both sides of the road.

In October of 2016 we were on one these ore hauls. It was night shift. Around 2:00 am. I was operating a 150 ton caterpillar 785 truck. This is a very big truck. The tires are taller than I am and I am 6′ 1″. Just to get an idea of how big this truck is. I was on the last long grade just below a point we call the saddle. At this point the truck is moving very slow. Maybe 5 to 6 mph.

It is a straight shot for about 1/4 mile to the actual saddle and then the road drops to the valley floor about 3 miles down. Here on this straight section in the distance I noticed a deer run across the road very fast. We see deer and elk very regularly in this area. And surprisingly they usually aren’t scared of the trucks. This one was different. Right behind the deer I could see something else much bigger jump onto the road. This was standing upright and very tall. It just stood there.

I was best guess 100 yds from it. Then after what seemed like a long time but actually was only a minute or so it took from what I recall 3 big strides and crossed the road. On mining roads there are very large berms. He got to the berm and in one jump was on top. There it stopped and just watched me drive by. You might ask why I didn’t stop? There was snow on the ground. If I stopped the truck I would not get it going again. And I was freaked out to say the least. This thing was not afraid of such a massive truck. To describe the face I would have to say Gorilla like. Conical head. It was showing its teeth.

They were flat looking. Hard to estimate how tall it was. The perspective from a truck that big can be deceiving. I seen a grizzly once from the truck and it looked small. I just kept driving and it watched as I left. It was gone on my return trip empty. That’s all I have.

This area has had a few sighting reports over the years. But I think there have been more that have not been reported. There are some areas here the ranchers will not go. With no explanation why. I have never told this story to anyone. Other than my wife. Most definitely not the guys I work with. They see ufos all the time on night shifts out there. I haven’t but a lot have. They are more prone to believe in aliens than bigfoot. So I keep my mouth shut. You have an open mind so I felt I should share this with you.

This was not a bear. Nor a man in a monkey suit. It was real and like I said freaked me out. And continues to freak me out to this day.”

So they are in Idaho….. Ive lived here in Boise all my life. Been an active hunter and outdoorsman all my life. Ive never had any encounters except one day while deer hunting with a Buddy,as we were perched in between two large boulders on a narrow ridge, something that sounded bipedal and VERY heavy ran past us, behind us, behind the boulders. We didnt get a visual but this thing sounded like it must have weight at least 800-900 lbs… The truth is, it sounded much heavier than that even. It quickly came running by and it was gone. My friend and I were just staring at each other, confused as all hell. When we eventually climbed out of our spot and walked around to the other side of the boulders there were impressions in the ground from something extremely heavy. It was difficult to make out any real shape to the impressions because the ground was as hard as ground gets around here and the impressions were not very deep, however I couldnt make any impression even stomping my heel down repeatedly in the same spot. I have no idea what it was and cannot definitively say that it was a sasquatch, butbreally I dont know what else it could have been. This was the first and the lesser of two “encounters” I have had. The second happened in Oregon last summer while camping with my wife. I still dont feel comfortable talking about it but I plan on sharing it when I do. It was so terrifying I cannot even tell the story without suffering extreme anxiety. I want to share it but I just dread re-living it. Does anyone else whise had a scary encounter know what Im talking about? I want to tell the story but im just reluctant because I get severe anxiety just thinking about that night… pretty frustrating.

Christian…..when I read remarks like yours, about the anxiety, I really don’t think I ever want to see a Sasquatch. I think I’ll be content with just reading about peoples encounters.
I feel really bad for you.

We know Sasquatch exist and that it can be terrifying as well you know, But talking to Wes can be the best therapy for you as we have seen this many times here on S.C. so please consider a call to him, thanks for your story…It helps us too!!

Christian, it took me over forty years to tell my experience to Wes and you all. It takes time to let your brain your emotions come to an agreement.
BUT I wish I’d done it much sooner.

Christian; I grew up in SE Idaho and first heard about Bigfoot in 1979 from my English teacher. He saw one cross the road. Since he told us, we always believed they were real. Never really even second guessed it. It’s too bad many keep quite about it. Tell your story because it will be cathartic. I think that’s why our 7th grade teacher told us…. He needed someone to listen and believe. They’re out there and you’re normal you just happened to have a highly unlikely occurrence.
Wes seems to really be able to help people deal with the anxiety.
