Mary grew up in Mississippi and had a total of three sightings on and near her parents property. The last encounter upset her so much she will not return to the property. Mary said “The last day I was on the property I saw this thing just watching me and my son fishing on the pond that is on our property. He was so human looking in the face but on an apes body. It was horrible it was like he was looking through me.
She said “My mother talks about them like she would a bear or any other normal animal but this is far from normal.”
Mary writes about her first encounter “This happened when I was about 7-8 yrs old. My dad used to take me and my brothers fishing every weekend- it was his form of relaxation after a hard week’s work. We used to use rod & reels as well as trott lines from the boat.
So my dad would run the motor, I sat in the middle with my younger brother & my older brother was at the head of the boat. After they set out the lines we’d float along the current using rodnreels. This was an all day event of going up down river. After he’d caught his fill, we’d get ready to head home. One day after they got boat & chests up in the truck a friend of my dad’s stopped by & they stood at the truck talking & drinking beer. My brothers were still casting into the river. I was running around chasing butterflies with a little net I had. I remember chasing a butterfly and I smelled this awful odor that smelled like fish guts, urine, dirt, & must all together. I thought somebody had threw out their fish guts & garbage. As I was running chasing butterflies I saw something outta the corner of my eye move. When I turned to look, in my mind I was seeing a really big monkey squatted down in some over grown grass/bushes. I just looked at it and it just looked at me. It tilted its head as it looked at me.
I waved my hand at it and Said hey monkey man & ran up to my dad & as he was talking, I told him I saw a monkey. He didn’t hear me so I kept trying to tell him but then ran down to my brothers & told them I saw a monkey. They laughed at me and told me to go catch it in my net. So I ran back to my dad but he talked a long time & I just kept chasing butterflies. So finally on the way home I said to my dad: Daddy I saw a monkey when I was chasing butterflies.”My dad laughed and pinched my nose and told me, he only monkey around here is you.” It had a cone shaped head, black hair not fur, but it wasn’t huge which makes me think it was a juvenile. It’s more was flat & flared. It had thin lips and hands & fingers but it’s thumb was like further back. I wasn’t really scared but more curious as why there was a monkey out there.”

I am very much looking forward to hearing more of Mary’s encounters and what upset her so badly she can never return to the property.

I remember the look my dear grampa Lee gave me, when I told him someone was walking around barefoot, in the freezing mud after the river crested.
This sounds like another winner!
Many thanks Wes!!

Okay, checking in! Can’t seem to wait. You got us all holding on with baited breath, as they say. ?

All kidding aside, that had to be traumatic, although you can’t remember being scared. When I was in middle school my family lived up the country in East Texas. A friend of mine and her family (parents, etc) lived near Neches River just off the river bottom road. (That the Jack Gore wild life area now, but just country back then. We had freedom to be wild children back then). She tried to tell me she saw a gorilla out there. I remember just balking at that and calling BS. Wish I would’ve paid attention. Anyway, looking forward to hearing Mary’s encounter (s).
