I’ve been hearing an increasing amount of woodknocking in my hollow in the past two weeks. I’m hearing this from inside my house. I was away this evening, but my brother informed me that he had been outside doing evening chores when he heard a good deal of woodknocking and he was able to pinpoint the direction, which I have trouble doing when inside. I’ve also been hearing an increasing amount of vocals that I believe to be Sasquatch vocals, nothing new as I’ve heard them for years now. As Spring approaches it seems the activity is increasing, although I find they are never many days absent from this locale. I saw large tracks, widely spaced apart in my driveway the morning after our last snowfall, and I saw them two consecutive days but in different areas. I witnessed these tracks from upstairs windows. I did not go outside to check them out. I saw the same type of trackway in our last early Spring snowfall last year, those I did photograph and measure. For years our neighbors had a home made box that was used to hold their bags of trash, our pick up day is every Thursday a.m. I used to hear the top hinged box lid regularly being opened and closed or at times perhaps banged on, in late evening/night time hours? I had the opinion that these creatures were helping themselves to the contents of this trash bin. And at times, especially if the trash had been picked up that a.m., they seemed unhappy to find the box empty and would bang on the box lid, which was metal, several times. Either that or the hinge was so strong when it was let go, the motion caused a bouncing noise as the metal clanged several times before the lid came to a rest. Back in the Fall, our neighbors relocated the trash box closer to the forks of the road, which exposed it to a lot more traffic. I stopped hearing the banging of the trash lid, but I felt I should still be able to hear it, because sound travels very well to the top of my hill. Just re entry something occurred to me and I asked my brother about it. I asked him if the trash box had been altered when it was moved to prevent the lid from being operating the way it normally did,min that I no longer heard the lid banging when closed. He informed me that it had been altered, that the lid was no longer on top, but that the trash was inserted and removed from the side of the bin. Wow! At least I now know why the normal pattern of things have changed!

Barbara W. I have done a prior episode and have not had pounding on my house, or walking on my roof in several years now and to which I reported at that time. It has been a few years ago now that happened. I do occasionally hear something large on my deck, but because I will not look, I’m unsure what it is. We do have coyotes, bear, black panther type cats here, as well as large neighbor dogs. The things that have happened over the years alter the way I live here. I feel I lost a lot of personal freedom due to fear. As far as the sounds, yells, woodknocking, those happen with regularity. I’ve just accepted these creatures are here and there isn’t anything I can really do about it apart from moving, which I can’t do at this time. Thanks to shows like SC, I now believe these creatures are just about everywhere they can get food, water, and cover. I’ve lived here some 40 years, I often wonder if they were always here and I was just not aware, but lacked knowledge of them? Thankfully, nothing dramatic has happened worthy of reporting to SC, but believe me if it did, Wes would be the first to know!
