Tonight’s Show: Encountering The Mande Burung

Tiffany writes “I live in northwest Pennsylvania. And this is a little difficult for me as I never really believed in “big foot” or Sasquatch, or anything like that. I live in a town called Franklin but I grew up in cranberry township which touches.

My dad, big hunter! Always said there were other things out there and to be careful of big foot, I was intrigued but my mom usually hushed him up about it saying it’s not real or whatever. I remember some of his stories too, him and his buddy that owned some land use to say out a couple hours past sunset and continue to hunt. He always talked about things they heard, and seen in the distance. And what one saw one night through the cam on the gun but it was running too fast and dark they couldn’t tell.

I always thought as I got older, it was a bear, maybe a big dear; around fall of 2018, a year before Covid, I was driving early evening time, big wooded area, lots of fields, a few houses ya know. Something came out of the woods and ran across the road, right in front of me and took off into the field then the woods.

My boyfriend, has gotten me into your shows and stuff, and he’s been on it himself and he’s been telling me I have to tell you this. What I saw, it was not Bigfoot! It was not Sasquatch, it was very tall, it came out of the woods on all fours then stood up and ran the rest on foot into the woods, it was very werewolf like but not.

It was very skinny, I was able to make out the rib cage on the figure, very long arms! It was hairy but excessively hairy, the head was very human like, but also wolf/dog like, very long nose. But the head part had a lot less hair than the rest of the body. It paused for one minute after it crossed the road, probably a second honestly and that’s when it stood up on the back legs but the eyes were deep, almost like it was just an eye socket. It was very odd. I told people at work that night when I went in and one of my coworkers told me I saw a skinwalker and that she saw one as a child and it freaked her the hell out! She told me what the creature looked like that she had seen many years ago, and it did match the description I have of what I saw.

The more I’ve talked to my boyfriend about his encounter and listened to your stuff with him I’m just really stumped on what I saw! I’ve tried so many times to say it was a big skinny deer, or a coyote, but no deer, or coyotes are that tall! And they don’t run on back legs. I think about this encounter everyday! And it’s been a good few years but I have absolutely zero explanation for what I saw. It wasn’t a dog, it wasn’t something I’ve ever seen in the wilderness before.”

We will also be speaking to Jesse. Jesse was on a trip to India describes a scary night while camping in the Northeast area of India. The witness said “I did not know what it was, it circled our camp grunting and a strange clearing of the throat sound. We found it’s kill along with footprints.

India’s version is called the Mande Burung (Jungle Man) and he has been sighted by tribal villagers for a very long time. These villagers live in the northeast area of India known as Meghalaya near India’s border with Bangladesh. They reside in the Garo Hills, which is made up of 8,000 sq. km of very thick and dense jungle. Inside the Garo Hills is a national park called Nokrek, and that is where many sightings have taken place.

In fact, so many sightings have been reported, especially since 2007, that authorities decided to do some investigating of their own. In a June 10, 2007 article by an unknown writer for the Indo-Asian News Service, district magistrate for the West Garo Hills district, Samphat Kumar said, “A team of wildlife officials and other experts will conduct a study to find out if there is any truth in the locals’ claims about these hairy giants.”

One of the villagers, a farmer named Wallen Sangma reported seeing what he believed was a family of the creatures, four in all. Mr. Sangma had been gathering firewood in the forest at the time of his encounter. He said, “The sight was frightening: two adults and two smaller ones, huge and bulky, furry. Their heads looked as if they were wearing caps, and their color was blackish-brown.” He said the four “monsters” stood 100-130 feet from him. “The four of them quietly vanished into the undergrowth.”

One local group called the Achik Tourism Society has been conducting research into the existence of the Mande Burung since approximately 1997. They claim to have photographs of large footprints and some of what the locals call “nests” of these animals. They also claim to have found hair samples of this animal in the forest and have sent them for DNA testing. However I was unable to find the results of this testing, which probably means it was inconclusive, or they were unable to get any DNA from the hair.

I just want to say it seems impossible to me that such creatures are almost too perfectly perfect at evading capture or a specimen being taken.

Let’s just say for instance these things were like a gorilla or large bear having a bad day.

Many encounters and stories of things like Sasquatch have people so frightened they’ve literally wet themselves seeing one or have their head on a swivel watching out for them.

Now you mean to tell me that it’s not common for people (especially in the U.S.) to be armed in the wilderness (which we most definitely are), actually have an encounter with a Sasquatch that strikes fear into them and they aren’t dumping a magazine into one of these things, or it actually happening a regular basis? Not one single recovery or even a blood trail to follow to some kind of evidence or end? C’mon man.

The scenarios are always too perfectly perfect. “I couldn’t shoot because it looked too human”, “I was too scared to move”, “I didn’t realize in the moment I even had a weapon” “I didn’t think my weapon would’ve been big enough” etc.

On the other hand, people see them and have a sense of wonder or peace about them and the creatures evoke feelings of calmness. It’s almost as though “they” and not you are in control of the situation. Isn’t that a little odd?

Let’s just say for instance we’re dealing with giant anaconda sightings across the U.S. instead.
I feel like many people would be bagging these things on sight simply out of fear or because they are potentially dangerous to other people, even if the snake did nothing to you personally. Am I wrong?

To perfectly perfect, or too adept at understanding every situational outcome for something that hides from people IMO. Let’s be real and think about that for a moment.

Humans can be the most unpredictable creatures on the planet, but apparently they have us figured out? Idk

Thank you Steven. I do remember the story in the link you sent, but I guess I personally just dismissed it as not being credible… To me it sounded more like a plot to a movie than reality, especially when it’s made to sound so easy to shoot one simply by having some decent hunting knowledge and a well placed tree stand (as if he was hunting a well known game animal).

People would also be getting credible photos and videos weekly or daily with camouflaged, well placed and far off cameras… But that isn’t the case either.

We would’ve ended this mystery a very long time ago if they could be hunted. There are so many savvy hunters and trackers in the woods that it’s easy to underestimate the skill level of a true outdoorsman unless you are talented in such a way.

That being said, I don’t advocate hunting and shooting one myself if it is possible, but some people would… There are plenty that’d gladly bag one, throw a tow strap on it and drag it to the Walmart parking lot for all to see if they could.

The fact of the matter is that there’s no shortage of hoaxes and disinformation out there when it comes to the unexplained, and I’m not personally buying and drinking every miracle cure off the back of a wagon if it doesn’t make logical sense to me or my own experiences.

I appreciate your response and interest in the subject though and wish you well.

I do remember the story where the female Sasquatch was shot out of a tree and the male carried her up the side of a cliff. That was a good one, wish I could find that one again.

I only say this possibly in hindsight… but if that situation happened to me, I definitely would’ve handled it differently. I would’ve went back to town and rounded up every hunter I know and storm right back in there like The Wild Bunch and track that sucker down. You can bet your butt they’d do it too:)

I may not have a lot of close friends, but I have a lot of friends close enough to be called friends if you know what I mean. It pays to be honest and good to people.

I believe this one took place in Virginia, very eary 2000s. I remember in the very early days of the Sasquatch Chronicles Wes played this, maybe over 1.5 hours and I was overwhelmend with all that went on, especially when the witness had the Sasqautch version of the men in black, so to speak visit his house to get him to shut up and go away. I think it was originally with the Cryto Crew or Brothers, maybe it is still out there. And yes the game warden filled a lot of blood into a bucket.

Peoples who have gotten good photos and audio will never make them public. The government already knows about them and the average person can’t/ won’t decide “Bigfoot” is real based on photos or audio. With ET disclosure happening now and recent testimony that biological beings have been recovered with downed ET craft, people will need to start getting used to the idea that there are many ET races…one of which is described looking like the typical bigfoot. Look up accounts of the bigfoot type creatures entering craft, exiting craft, and if you read the reports from Skinwalker Ranch when Bigelow owned it, a bigfoot type creature was observed entering from what was described as a portal on the ranch. Look into the accounts of people injured by these creatures and how the government becomes involved, or the young boy Dennis Martin’s disappearance and the FBI investigation, with a family reporting a creature carrying something over its shoulder in the area Dennis Martin disappeared. There is much more going on with “bigfoot” than most people feel comfortable with.
