A listener writes ” I have two very weird experiences I had over 50 years ago. Up until I started listening to your show I only looked at those two events as strange and and puzzling. Now I have some insight as to what might have been sasquatch related.
Your show has also brought some understanding to what my father told me about his growing up in Oklahoma. He was full blood Cherokee, a WWII veteran and a lay minister, which gave his stories credibility.
I won’t go into a bunch of details but may mention things briefly. I was 15 when the first experience happened. I came home late and was the last to go to bed. Everyone was asleep and there were no lights on, but you could see things from the moonlight. It seemed that I had just closed my eyes when something hit the house. The bedroom was at the back of the house and had 2 windows which shook when the house was hit.
I opened my eyes and saw 2 silhouettes in the widows: the bottom of the windows were over 5 and a half feet off the ground, so these 2 figures had to be at least 7 feet tall. I immediately closed my eyes and heard the two figures communicating in a deep growling/gurgling type of sound. I tried to call out to my parents but couldn’t move or talk. It was as though I had a spell on me. I began to pray and after a few seconds passed I was able to call out to my mom after clearing my voice 2 to 3 times. She answered me sleepily and when I asked what that sound was she said she heard nothing and to go back to sleep. I didn’t tell her that I wasn’t sleeping when the house was hit.
The next day I asked if anyone had heard the noise, but no one had. My parents did say that they sometimes heard a banging noise as though someone was working on a roof. It was a loud sound like a hammer hitting wood.
A few years later I was about to go to sleep in the room next to the bedroom where the first incident happened when I heard something walking on the leaves outside. The window was the at the same height as the others, and I had the feeling someone was looking in at me and my wife. Our bed was a mattress on box springs sitting on the floor, so we were about a foot below the window. I pulled a 357 from the mattress as I rolled off the bed and grabbed a flashlight from the dresser.
I exited the front door and cocked the hammer. My gun was loaded with hollow points. As I rounded the corner of the house I aimed my pistol and the flashlight about waist high at where I thought the peeper would be. I immediately heard this voice in my head that said “whatever it is is in the tree, but don’t look up.” I lowered the hammer on my pistol and slowly backed up a couple of steps before turning around. I never looked up and when asked what it was upon returning to the bedroom I think I said something like it must have been the wind blowing the leaf’s.
Since listening to your podcast I now believe the first experience was a couple of sasquatch, but have no idea what the second one was all about. Also, the stories my father told me could possibly be related to sasquatch, as well as a skinwalker and a relative rumored to be a shape-shifter. But that would take too long for typing. Anyhow..
I realize there are no experts and I don’t expect you to have the answers to my questions, but here goes. I hear that sasquatch are closely related to humans and I’m wondering what sounds they make when filled with anguish, such as over the loss of a mate, an offspring, or a homesite that’s been destroyed.
I think of that when hearing the Ohio howl and a couple of others. I also wonder about the odor. The milder “wet dog” scent could be just plain body odor, while the second more severe maggot gagging odor could be sasquatch flatulence. I hear that when a squatch breaks a large tree limb it sounds like a gun going off. Since they seem to know what guns are, maybe that’s their attempt to mimic the sound and cause the same effect in us as guns do them. Just a thought.
Love the show. You’re doing a great job and helping alot of folks. Please keep going.”
