Travel Channel: Expedition Bigfoot

Check it out tonight: “With one team member down, Russell and Mireya must forge ahead and return to the forest to hunt down their leads. Their intensive investigations uncover the group’s first pieces of potential Bigfoot evidence.”

Dang, I forgot about it last night, watched Pittsburgh and Buffalo. However I recorded it and will watch with the wife tonight. I liked the first episode. That Lidar is amazing being able to map out heavily used game trails and convergent point. The most interesting structures I have found are usually next to heavy used game trails. It was a real shame about RGP having to leave due to terrible migraines.

I watched last night. They had Russell repel down a 450 foot rock face. I think the producers have watched too many episodes of Bear Grylls. Russell, although in good shape, is not young any more. Be careful Russell. I also wish they had better recording equipment with the camera man. The thermal got a clear picture of the deer, so that seems good. When Bryce called Bob Gimlin for a suggestion of a replacement for RPG, I was hoping that Bob would say – oh yah. I am going to send Wes Germer over to you. Overall, I really like what they are doing.

I wish I were enjoying this show but it comes across a just another reality show. Why add music, sound stings, etc. when recording the researchers in the woods, making it hard to distinguish animal sounds v. added sound. Why have a trip wire around the tent, but no cameras and no mics?

All that adds up to coming across as not serious about the stated goal of confirming the existence of Bigfoot. If I was really, truly interested in accomplishing that goal, I’d be talking to Wes, asking me to introduce me to his best podcast guests – or just people who reach out to him but won’t come on his show – who have active, current habituation around their home, on their property. One person I’d definitely want to speak with would be Bethany, EP 606. I realize the series was shot way before Bethany was a guest, but she’s only one of many. I’d go to one of those properties, not based upon some algorithm on a historical record.

If researchers were really serious, for TV or not, I’d go all Willie Sutton (investigate a property where Bigfoot are *known* to be, right now), and be ready to stay or camera/mic the sh*t out of that place for a long time, taking into account how smart they appear to be at avoidance.

I have thought of numerous possible reasons why researchers don’t do something like this, and none of those theoretical reasons reflect well on Bigfoot researchers (including the likelihood of intentional deception/deflection as part of the gov’t coverup).

So, what’s the deal? Why are researchers making the decisions that they do in these studies they portray as serious? Why not target one or more properties owned over decades by a family, that family has a lot of on-the-ground intelligence and experience, and current activity?
