Tonight’s Show: The farm that had the creatures on it

Tonight I will be speaking to Trey. Trey grew up in FL on a farm that had these creatures on it. He had a very strange encounter many years later near his family farm.

Trey writes “Second Morning of Archery 1999-2000 Timeframe – I was dropped off by swamp buggy in the area I was hunting that morning. This was in a Florida WMA. When I got off the buggy I instantly felt eyes on me. As I was slipping on my back pack it was so strong I looked back over my shoulder into the darkness. A friend was handing down my bow asked me fi I was all right.

I looked up and said I’m good. It was well be before daylight. They had a good ways to travel further into the WMA to their stands. I stood there for a few minutes letting them drive off and letting things quiet down before I walked in to my stand. It was maybe a 15 min walk to my stand down an old road on the mound. I got about 50 feet down the road and got this massive feeling of pressure from my left. I didn’t have my headlamp I had left ti hanging on my stand the previous morning. I hunted a different area the evening before with one my of friends. There was some moonlight I could see the trail fine but not into palmettos and trees. The hair stood up on the back of my neck. I knew I wasn’t alone and I was being scrutinized. My first thought maybe a bobcat, panther or big hog. I’m standing there listening in the dark and I get this flash in my mind of what is standing in the palmettos. I made a quick decision either return camp crossing a lot of water in the dark or continue to my stand. I said to myself get to the stand and get off the ground. I walked my normal pace. I slipped my KBar out of its sheath. I walked with bow in my left hand and it in my right. When I arrived at the stand I didn’t bother putting my pack and bow on my pull rope. I hung my bow on my left shoulder and climbed right up. That stand was a 16ft ladder stand. I nocked an arrow and put my bow in its holder. I put my gloves and mask on. I settled in to wait for daylight. I still had the intense feeling of being watched. I hadn’t been sitting there very long when at my 10 o’clock this impossibly loud owl hoot goes off. It echoed through the woods. I looked in that direction and I thought that’s one huge owl. Mind you the day before I hadn’t heard any owls at al. Then another hoot at the 12 position. Then again at the at 4 and 2 positions. I’m thinking wait heck is this? These hoots keep coming from those positions. After about 15 minutes of this I start noticing that they don’t sound quite normal. They would also be softer from 12, 2, 4 and trail off a little funny. The ones from ten were always loud and intense. What I am about to say is the God Honest Truth. I will take a polygraph to prove its validity. Out of nowhere a Great Horned

Owl lands on a limb of tree right next to me. I could have reached out touched it. It was that close to me. It turns its head looks at me. I was thinking to myself no one will ever believe this. Another hoot goes off from 10. That owl turned its head towards it and then looked back at me. I whispered to it see it’s not me doing it. This owl sits there with me for a good 5 minutes listening to the hoots. A couple of times it ruffled its feathers after hoots but not once did that bird answer those hoots! When it flew off I never felt so alone in my life. The hoots started getting more intense after it left. It felt like they were trying to intimidate now. This carried on till first light. When it started breaking daylight it was like someone reached up and flipped a switch. The woods went absolutely Dead Silent. That was only time I have experienced that dead silence. My first thought was here we go. Something is about to happen now. I was literally sitting there bow in hand in this soundless void waiting to be charged at any moment. The slight hum of the powerlines behind me to west was gone too. This lasted for more than an hour. When the sound came back it was very weird. I could literally hear the sound of woods in the distance coming back to me. I still had a slight feeling of being watched. It wasn’t that intense feeling of being scrutinized. I stayed in the stand until 0930. While sitting there every once in a while, I would hear land something land in the water behind me.

Just a small plop sound. Looking back now, I believe they were throwing acorns at me. I never saw anything airborne though. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me. It wasn’t the sound of fish popping something on top of water. When I climbed down from the stand I decided I wasn’t just going beat feet out of there. I put my pack on and nocked an arrow. I started my walk back to camp which is maybe mile or so. When I was about at ten o’clock position from my stand I stopped to take a look around. There was a little turn in the trail there where you could watch my stand pretty much unnoticed. I turning around in circle looking for sign I bumped something with my right. I look down and laying there on the ground was big human looking turd you have ever seen. It was at least 18 inches long and 3inches in diameter. I broke it apart with an arrow it was full of deer hair and acorns. I wish now I picked it up brought it to back to camp. tI was laying there in the trail like a big F You. I had a Nextel Radio at the time. I wish I had a smart phone that day. The trail was pretty hard there weren’t any discernible tracks. I started walking again when I notice a trail going into the palmettos on my right I noticed walking out the previous morning. There about 10- 15 off the trail was a little open area. In it was collapsed little one-man tent. It was blue and black in color. It looked in relatively good condition and was a little weathered. The snap together poles to hold it up and the weather fly weren’t anywhere to be seen. There was not any sign of fire pit or camp fire.

There was some trash strewn around the site. There where some power bar wrappers and etc. I was standing there thinking who would abandon their shelter. The longer I stood there more it started to give me a bad feeling. I backed to the trail and headed for Camp. I didn’t do any more poking around after that. I just did my normal walk back trying not to look bothered by them. I still had the slight feeling of being watched al the way back to camp. Once back at camp I changed clothes and sat in the cook shack back against the wall watching the wood till everyone returned to camp. I didn’t mention any of it to anyone and still haven’t to his day. As for the tent I believe the Florida Trail passes through that general area passing from that WMA into an adjoining WMA. Maybe a hiker was forced out their camp. It’s quite a long way to civilization from there in any direction. The camps to the SE are private and empty most of the year. I like to note that the hunt the morning before was one the best I spent in the woods. The woods were full life that morning. I saw deer and turkeys. The oaks were full of squirrels running back and forth the entire time. The next morning was like walking into the tomb. Something strange did in occur during the silence that I will only share with you Wes. I feel after listening to all your episodes and being a member, I believe I can trust you with it. Thanks for taking the time to read this and sorry for any typos I missed.”
