Tonight’s Show: I thought it was a huge hog

A listener writes “Hey Wes recently started listening to podcast and found yours. It’s been an almost therapy to listen too knowing what happened to me on 2 different occasions has happened to so many others. Both occurred on the Red River in southwest Oklahoma in Tillman county.”

I spoke to the witness today and he said “I have two encounters at the time I wasn’t sure what I saw. I was bow hunting and I saw these hogs coming down the trail. I saw this huge hog or what I thought was a hog in the treeline making his way down on all fours. I raised my bow up and fired. The arrow hit its mark and this thing in one motion stood up and took off running on two legs. It was screaming and roaring. I was so terrified. I stayed in my tree stand for a long time I was too afraid to get down. When I got down I ran to my truck. I had another experiences several years earlier and we thought it was just a crazy guy in the woods and now I am not so sure.”

I’ve been up on the Red River riding dirtbikes for 20 years. You won’t surprise anything when you’re riding a 4-stroke 450 so I rarely see so much as a deer, but I’ve often thought the entire region would make perfect habitat for an elusive beast.

” The arrow hit its mark and this thing in one motion stood up and took off running on two legs.” My question is, did the arrow penetrate, making it stick out of the animal while running off screaming?

I think the increasing deer and now wild hog population have allowed the bigfoot to flourish and their population to increase like never before. Just since the 80’s there are a lot more encounters in areas such as eastern Ok., Eastern TX and La. Can’t wait to hear this one and I’m glad you made it out safely. As a side note I have now read 5 of the Terror in the Woods books (really enjoyable, thanks Wes for recommending them) and it seems not everyone is not so fortunate.

Hey Wes thanks for not giving up on this encounter even though there have been some real technical difficulties hindering it’s getting it to us! Your shows are really worth waiting for and are one of the things I look forward to the most in my week because I have become picky about what I spend my time listening/watching in my old age.
