The witness last night and he does a great job describing the sheer size of the creature and how it just stood there looking at them. The creature then walked into the water and started swimming towards the boat. The witness describes the creature as a tall, hairy like man about 7 feet tall.
The witness writes “My father and I were night fishing for bass on Cherokee Lake on a bluff behind Panther Creek State Park. There are deer all in that park and we heard something walking in the woods and initially we thought it was a deer, but as it was getting closer we could tell it wasn’t a 4 legged animal walking, it was bipedal.
We made eye contact because where this area was no person would be walking at night without a light so this began to capture more and more of our attention. This area was very steep, hence the “bluff” name of this area so it wouldn’t be safe to be walking there at night without a light. At one point it what ever it was fell and it sounded like someone fell and landed on their back and made a noise like getting your breath knocked out of you.
We were using a black light for fishing which provides very little light but the black light I had also had a “white light” on it to light up structure on the shore so we could see outlines but no detail. This “thing” walked out to the edge of the water and we were both on extremely high alert at this point and it starts wading out towards us and since it was so steep there it was in deep water very quickly and I started to dig out the spot light and hook it up and my dad yanked the trolling motor up and said to get out of here!!
All I can say is that it was walking on 2 legs, very big frame, and a good swimmer. I cranked the motor and gave it all of the gas it had, (I had a 19 ft bass boat with a 150 hp motor), so we were out of there quickly. We rode about a mile or so down the lake and we just stopped and sat there, didn’t talk, but we were shook up. We couldn’t fish or didn’t want to fish anymore that night so we left. That was in the early 80’s and to this day when I ask my dad what he thought that was and he will say I don’t want to know.”

Sounds awesome! Can’t wait! On another note, I apologize to the other listeners who were offended by my comments on Coonbo and Bear. I meant no disrespect, but comparing their podcast to Wes is like night and day. To each his own. Keep up the good work Wes, and thanks.

It’s a shame you feel like an apology is necessary. Is this not America?!? People should be able to read comments and ignore it. Facists!

Is there anything Sassy can’t do?

Great story. I’ve went night bass fishing so many times. I had an incident one night of someone or “something” throwing baseball size rocks at us in the boat. This individual was throwing them within a few yards of us but never hit us or the boat. We couldn’t tell where they were coming from other than from the shoreline and never saw of heard anyone. It happened sometime after midnight and it was really dark out. Could barely make out the shore let alone someone throwing rocks. Needless to say we left after about the 4th or 5th rock. Found out later there is a history of BF activity at this Lake. Go figure.

that’s what happens when you jump the neighbors fence and try to fish in their kiddie pool, i would throw rocks at you too. LMAO
Dave T
Who is this Joe guy and what does he know about fishing? He probably borrowed that fish for his avatar.

I think they get angry when people intrude on THEIR fishing spots. Kind of like we fisherman do if we find someone fishing in our honey hole. I’ve heard other great reports of sightings by people night fishing and they usually involve a rather aggressive encounter. Something about is fishing pisses them off.

Troubling that Coonbo and Bear report the distances these creatures swam underwater, and couple that with disappearances of swimmers and fishermen off lakes with no trace, perhaps fish isn’t the only source of protein garnered from these lakes!

Naturally a location is not given. Not to worry!! We are given a Clue. Hey, kind of like Jeopardy! Panther Creek State Park is located there. Hmmm…..Where is Tennessee? Correct Answer!
Martin Z
I wonder why Wes doesn’t want to mention the location. I thought Wrs wanted someone to bring one in. What if giving the location of where these things frequent saves someone’s life?
Karl K
So, how many fisherpersons went strangely missing there during the 80’s…?
Glen K
(New Jersey) Martin, I have no idea. Could be just an oversight? Speaking of location, I sent Wes an email several months ago. I suggested that Members be asked if they would like to list their home State in the Comment section- like I just did! It would only be a choice. No one Has to give their home state if they don’t want to. I explained that I thought it would be nice to show a cross section of where everyone lived. I also felt it would add to the camaraderie and interaction among the SC Members. I never did hear back from him.

This report really gives me chills when I think of a sasquatch swimming out to your boat . Good thing these guys didnt go out there with just oars. Thank you Wes for all your hard work and dedication.
Karl K
Home state would be a good thing to list. Montana is big, California, Idaho, Washington, Texas, the Dakotas, Maine, etc are big. At least listing a state will not give too much away.
george c
I didnt mind at all listing the state(Kentucky) or the general area of my incident. I want to hear if their are any other reports in my vicinity.

(Virginia) The fact they swim blows the “Ape Theory” out of the water.

Hey Wes, I live in New Market on 11E between Jefferson City and Knoxville, I know the Area he’s speaking about very well . He made the comment no one would be walking at night in THAT AREA without a flash light and I am hear to tell you that’s The damn truth. Wes I’m sure that you understand, but for those of you who are city folk when you are out in a remote area such as the one this witness is speaking of even with the moon it can be very dark and if you have a moonless night or cloud cover well The old line about not being able to see your hand in front of your face becomes more than just an adage it’s a damn fact ! Add to that the brush, scrub pines extremely hilly terrain, shear drop offs and the fact that they don’t call it “Old Rocky Top” for no reason, you can trip over or run into rocks that range in size from pea gravel up to the size of a car. One other thing I would like to point out is where the creature was swimming is over 80 feet deep so he wasn’t wading he was definitely swimming LOL.
