A listener writes “In June of 2008 a friend and I were returning home late in the evening and watched a family of four BF’s cross the road directly in front of my car. I lived in the Sierra Foothills of CA and we were traveling very slowly on a windy road. One was about 8 feet tall, one about 7, and then two smaller ones about 3 or 4 feet tall skipping ahead of the parents, just as human toddlers might do.
After we passed where they crossed, we decided to go back to see if we could spot them again. I reversed a few yards and parked on a pullout with my headlights facing some large boulders. We couldn’t see them, however, we could see their eyes dashing left and right behind the rocks.
Something I’d like you to address I don’t hear often is why sometimes their eyes will reflect red, other times green. Many years ago I read an article that stated eye color was predicated on type of light shining on them. If I remember correctly, halogen causes the green reflection?
Also, the eyes were moving so fast back and forth, almost as if they were on a stringer. This wasn’t due to them rocking side to side since they moved several yards. Do you recall others speaking of this?”

I remember a witness saying once that the eyes reminded him of a bird, darting back and forth and blinking.
Very neat encounter, a family group.

Very rare we get to hear of a family group encounter!

Thank you

(New Jersey) I never tire of reading about these ” chance” encounters. We all read about researchers who spend much time, money and effort trying to spot these elusive creatures. Justin of Mountain Beast Mysteries, the crew from Finding Bigfoot, and many , many more. Almost all of the time, they come up empty. I find it amazing that a truck driver or even a family can be out taking a ride, and stop to relive themselves, or check on their vehicle, and come face to face with these beings. I used to think the odds were incredible, yet I keep reading about these encounters happening again and again. Could it be that Bigfoot are “out and about” in greater numbers than we can imagine? How else can one explain driving 200 miles or so , randomly stopping to check something out, and have a life changing meeting with a Bigfoot. Oh well, I guess that goes for hikers, fisherman, and hunters. In fact, the exact thing happened to Wes and his brother Woody. I guess if you want to see a Sasquatch, don’t bother looking for them, but you may run in to one when you least expect it.

I do wonder a lot about so many different descriptions of their eyes. I sure wish we knew more about them. I hope this person comes on the show and can tell us some of the details.

eye glow might depend o eye color. I know cats are not primates but hear me out … I have had a menagerie of cats over the past few decades. (I love dogs too, but have lived in a condo that does not allow dogs for a long time, so it’s cats for now). The cats with blue eyes glow red in the dark. The cats with green eyes glow green in the dark. The cats with yellow eyes glow, you guessed it: amber/yellow.
Perhaps the SQ whose eyes glow yellow or amber have eyes color closer to our Hazel color. perhaps the red glow is a recessive color of some kind. I have never heard of blue eyed SQ, and blue eyes did not occur in human populations until about 7500 years ago, so if they have lighter color eyes, or some kind of recessive gene color, it might have a red glow as blue is our recessive gene eye color.
Or … maybe this is the vodka talkin’. Or just random thoughts that ricochet inside this skull 🙂
I happen to think that SQ is a primate subject to the principles of evolution, even if humans don’t want to officially recognize they are out there, just on the outskirts of our so-called ‘civilization’. Having said that, there has to be something very scary about what they have evolved into, otherwise the ‘powers that be’ would not be lying about their existence.

Some very good points to ponder Glen K. I have been a proponent of the population numbers being much more than what some of the experts like Dr. Meldrum throw out, just due to the number of sightings and encounters that happen every year. And in areas of the country one would never suspect. And for every one that gets published in some form, you can times that by 20 to a hundred that go unreported I believe.
Devon C. – That is an interesting take on eye glow due to your observations of your cats. Several years ago I read a length article by a gentleman named Freeman Young, I believe. He was documenting Sasquatches coming into the outskirts of his town at night. There was no light to cause reflection and it was about this time that the term bioluminescence as a trait of the Sasquatch was being thrown about. His theory was that the color of eyeshine was a form of readiness or agitation. Whiteish or amber was a state of low fear. Blue to green was a state of enhanced alertness. Red was a state of high alert. Others sasquatches in a hunting or recon party could see the leaders eye color and know what kind of caution they needed to proceed with their activities. I had discussions with researchers, mostly in the Midwest at that time, that were seeing the same thing on nights that there was absolutely no light for reflection.

It’s be interesting to have a video cam up & running on that stretch of the road. Fascinating experience. Thanks for posting.

As far as eye color I can tell you that my dog, parts Husky/Pitbull, has two different color eyes and they reflect different colors. The reflected color depends on the direction of the eye and light source. The grey/White eye usually has a red or amber reflection and the blue/grey eye usually green or yellow but red if directly towards the light. I will try to confirm this on our next night walk.

Very cool story. I live close to the Sierra Foothills and am very interested in knowing where this sighting happened as my brother had an encounter in the foothills also.
Thanks for posting your story.
