The World’s Deadliest Snakes

Simon writes “By some estimates, between one and five million people are bitten by poisonous snakes around the world every year, and around one-fifth of them end up dying. That number is definitely a lot lower than most of our history – as snakes have always been dangerous for our species – though it’s still uncomfortably high. Despite modern medicine and anti-venom, bites from particularly deadly snake species still have a worryingly high death rate.

Of course, most snakes aren’t poisonous, and you’d find many harmless garden varieties living in urban areas around the world. The ones that are poisonous, though, are especially good at what they do. The deadliest snake species in the world are equipped with a diverse array of venoms that can kill you in a surprisingly wide variety of ways, depending on the species you encounter. Quite a few of them live in, or nearby, densely-populated human settlements, too, making them even more lethal in terms of the number of casualties….”

I hate snakes most people do. Thank goodness here in the States only about 5 people per year die out of 7 to 8 thousand bites. Last winter I was watching Python hunters in the swamps of Florida. Cast member Troy Landry of Swamp people was getting in on the action. In one episode they were very worried as they were venturing into a scary area that is known as Skunk Ape Alley where a lot of Skunk Ape sightings have taken place. They took this and the stories very seriously. I have to wonder if the Skunk Apes eat the pythons, as they are certainly an abundant food source. I have wondered if a rattlesnake or cotton mouth bite is much danger to the Sasquatch, I rather doubt it though. In the book 50 Years With Bigfoot, Janice Carter talked about the local populations reaction to the numerous ( maybe Eastern Diamond Back Rattlers ) that were common in SE, Tennessee. She stated the Bigfoot would quickly pick up the snake by the tail and in one viscously fast motion snap the snake like a whip and the snake’s head would pop off. Do not try this at home.

WoW , I during Jonnie’s episode it was mentioned Snakes being abundant in her property and I thought the same thing. How do Squatch handle the poisonous Snakes? Are they immune or do they get a little sick or die like we can ? . Good question bro
