A listener writes “I have had 3 encounters, but they are all audio, so nothing probably that is tremendously helpful to mostly eye-witness reports.
My friend in HS saw one and we went hiking back deep into the Indiana woods to see if we could find it. Something began circling our campsite and there were tree knocks. We felt fear like I cannot explain and left.
#2 was in the same area. I was in a sports car while in college and with my fiancée at the time making out near an old abandoned graveyard. A multi-toned scream began to rise up maybe about 25 yards in the dark..it sounded like a lion at a zoo…how the air shakes and you feel it and then the roar/scream went into a sound that sounded like an insane woman screaming. Needless to say, we left the area FAST.
#3 A fishing trip with my dad in the Quetico area in Northern Canada. We were a good 100 miles from any civilization, we had motorized canoes and it took 2 days of travel into the most northern area you can imagine. We camped on an island about 40 yards across. There were 4 of us..my Dad friend and his son, and us. A tiny island next to us, maybe about 25 yards away was very small, about 30 feet across with a massive bald eagle nest in the top of the trees there that was so cool. We were here for a week..a large tent on our island and we were there to fish for a week…and would never see another human being. Our island was about 1/2 mile from any shoreline, deep and cold water, it was early summer.
On the second night…something massive..with bipedal steps was walking around the tent. It was a heavy footfall…I thought it was my dad playing a joke. Then, something begins to slap the side of the tent with a flat hand sound, in a very very rapid secession like someone trying to slap the tent to scare us to come out. I remember seeing a shadow from the moonlight and seeing a large person’s shape.
Moonlight distorts things and makes things look huge, so the size was not the issue since I thought it was my dad trying to scare me. I took my flashlight and showed it inside the tent expecting to see my dad’s sleeping bag empty but all 3 people were sound asleep. I was terrified. I listened to this for another 15 minutes or slower, something walking around the tent the steps were heavy and I could feel the ground vibrate a little. I never thought about Sasquatch for some reason..but now I have a better idea based on all your podcasts.”

#3. I would say listen to what a roughed grouse sounds like when it is drumming (which they would do in moonlight), and if it was a little ways away from the tent it could definitely cast a shadow that looks bigger and human like. They move quite a bit of air when they do this and if you were close enough you’d definitely feel the vibrations from it.

I’m not trying to discredit every experience because strange unexplained things do happen, but sometimes the highly strange things could be something natural that people just aren’t knowledgeable of as well… And when it comes to some birds and mating behaviors they can get fooled by plastic decoys, a mirror or window of their own reflection and quite possibly even their own shadow cast onto the side of a tent. The grouse wing even looks like a hand when it’s fanned out, just saying and JMO.
A rabbit hole is not a fun place to be whether a person puts themself in one unintentionally or even worse when something you were never aware of is right in plain sight and forces you into it.

(New Jersey) A grouse? Me thinks you jest, Ron. Perhaps the bald eagle was out for an evening spin. Or maybe a wild boar got lost and made its way into their camp. Oh well, besides a sasquatch, it could have been a number of things. But a grouse?
Ron S
Glen K, a very very rapid sound like a flat hand slapping the tent is what a grouse would sound like and be capable of on a moonlit night, and also sound very scary at close range and also insight the imagination.
I would never “jest” with someone who has PTSD over a traumatic event. I’ve lived through those types of experiences and I don’t wish that on others or make fun of it.
I’m always honest about my opinions or ideas, I try and make it obvious when I’m joking and when I’m serious. I never talk with a forked tongue in cheek… I will talk back against evil when some jester brings it out of me and I mirror it right back with the painful truth, but it’s something I’m still working on, doing so more constructively and without anger.

I’m trying not to be Bruce Banner anymore Glen, you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.

I try and take all things into consideration that I’m currently aware of when commenting…Such as the lack of wild boar in the area this happened.
Boar along with eagles aren’t known for very very rapid flat slapping sounds like an open hand on a tent. To jump to a conclusion that something must be this or that or otherwise it has to be Sasquatch is that “in the box” mentality that only reveals ignorance.
I simply offered a possible explanation to one of the events from my own life experience. Maybe it would give comfort to the person if they looked into it and also saw it as a possibility…
Why someone would mock someone else for trying to help another?…now that makes me wonder what their own motives or intentions are.
Nah, I have better things to do and think about:)

One thing to think about that’s interesting is this all “red heifer” thing being talked about in unexplained circles. My gut tells me this is a perpetuated intentional thing by secret societies and ties right in with underground technology, the occult, DNA altering in “flu shots”, these so called “cattle mutilations” by so called “aliens or UFOs” (which seems more like dna extraction), and all the other weird stuff being intentionally hyped in the media. Smells like a setup IMO.
I haven’t looked into it fully if it’s supposed to be something good but it seems a little brainwashy so far. Idk.
Here’s a link that seems honest if you want to know more(if it’s ok with Wes that I share it). It’s from a podcast called Blurry Creatures.

Not saying that a grouse was to blame but Ron is correct they definitely flap their wings fast and make a lot of noise and it does scare you when you walk across them Make You jump
