A listener writes “In Feb. 2022, I was in the Adirondacks for a Valentines getaway with my boyfriend. We are outdoor enthusiasts and love to hike, rock and ice climb.
This particular weekend was low key as I was recovering from Covid, so we were pretty local and decided to check out some property for sale that had a rustic hunting cabin on the site.
This happened in the heart of the Adirondacks. We went down a dirt road and had to park on the side of the road. No driveway, no trail, it was just a bushwack straight up the side of a huge hillside. This happened on a Sunday morning.
My boyfriend told me to stay behind near a huge tree knowing I was still tired out from COVID. He went up the hillside and said when he sees the cabin, he will come back to the ridge to call me up.
He proceeded with our 92 lb. Labrador. All uphill in the crunchy snow.
I stayed put at the tree and snapped some shots of the area with my phone. There were ridges to the front and back. He was gone about 10 -15 minutes.
At that point, I saw him walking up on the ridge to get to an area where he would call me. There was someone walking about 20’ behind him. I thought, oh he found someone else looking at the old cabin, but the person was not walking with him but behind him.
I know my boyfriend as he was so high up on the ridge, and he had on a light grey fleece and dark grey pants. The person behind him was all in black. I never thought to look at real details, but he appeared to be in completely black including his head. My boyfriend is a little over 6’ tall and I would guess this person was about the same.
They walked behind a huge group of boulders and I got the awful feeling that what if he didn’t know that person was behind him and this person was up to no good. Then I thought what should I do? Soon my boyfriend reappeared and called to me to make my way up the hillside. The person who had been behind him was now gone…
I said to My boyfriend “who is up there with you?”
He said “no one why?”
So I climbed the hill and we went to see the cabin which was about 1/4 mile away. It was an unlocked small cabin abandoned and so old. Animals clearly could be in there. We walked the same path my boyfriend had taken, and there were no other footprints in the snow.
He told me know one was up there with him and by the way the huge Labrador we have would definitely noticed and heard anyone walking behind.
I have never forgotten it. Was it a Sasquatch? I haven’t forgotten it, and was later freaked out thinking it all over.
Oddly, after I had taken pictures from my phone standing and waiting, I never had the sense to photograph what I was watching. I sure wish I had.
I really don’t share this with anyone. Just my kids and my sister. Of course, I can’t even say it was a Sasquatch.”
